My early 1980's Clemens rod lathe the rollers on the thread carriage base had started to fail. I needed new replacement parts so I checkout Renzetti's a sponsor on your site. The folks at Renzetti we so polite and helpful, they hooked me up with a great replacement set up. Thanks to Renzetti for helping me out.

I will be building an 8ft. 1 piece heavy Tarpon Rod for the first time. The blank is rated at 30-60 lb. class using 50 lb. braided line. I would like to use the new K-series tangle free guides from Fuji. My concern is, must I use double footed guides or can I get away with single foot guides. I will be using the guide concept method with all the same size running guides. The reel I am using is a

I pretty much agree with everyone on the forum. A very straight blank and a very reasonable price tag. Very much like my 13' for steel.

I'll second that Paul. Single foot fly rod guides work very well under the new guide concept system.

Rick, This is truly an inspirational note that you have posted. I share your appreciation for Tom and all that he has done for our craft. I was fortunate to get to the show down in High Point NC. a couple of years ago and words are not enough to describe how much it did for me. I look forward to getting back there as I understand it is growing bigger every year. I visit the website very frequentl

Has anyone tried the new MHX Steelhead blanks from 9 to 13 ft. for center pin or drift fishing? Would like to hear anything from anyone out there from coast to coast.

I tend to agree with your opinion, especially when building longer rods the tip becoming a little heavy has always been an issue, but it is not so heavy that it effects casting or action. Top priority the rod needs to be fitted properly, being a fisherman myself, the feel is what it is all about.

Hi Eric
You may want to look at Batson's Rainshadow XST High Modulous Blanks, I've built both float and spinning rods using the 13 ft. 2 pc. blank. I think you may like this blank if you are looking for something light in the 6-10 lb. range. It's very light ,sensitive and powerful enough to land chrome, and it's straight from the butt to tip top. The 2 pc. can easily handle a 4 lb. tippet. They

Oops!! I meant to say conservationist, meaning we have a great deal of respect for what Gary has done for the fisheries in the Northwest. I'm sure glad you are back in the blank industry. Meant no harm to Gary, but glad you got a laugh. :)

14. Enjoy the show
To all of those who have never been and those returning, hope you enjoy the show. I could not make it this year but wanted to let you know that the whole atmosphere there will give you a great appreciation for our craft. I got so much out of the show the year that I went. Go see the seminars and meet all the great folks. Try to get to see Gary Loomis he is truly an inspiration not only as a blank

I have been a longtime Loomis builder and know exactly what you are going through, I had to search for a long time myself. I would definately take a hard look at the Rainshadow XST. I just finished building a 13 ft. 2 pc. for a friend. He is a diehard float fisherman who is mainly fishing Steelhead with it and really likes it alot because it is lightweight and has great action. In the past 3 mont

I am going to build a 9 foot fly rod. approx. 3 to 5 weight. I would like to try using the New Guide Concept of spacing. I would rather not use the standard progressive guide spacing process. I would like to use stripper guides on the butt section and instead of using spiral snake guides on the tip section I want to use single foot fly/spinning guides. Has anyone on the forum tried this approac

19. Thread Color
I am building a mid 1980's G.Loomis IM6 Spinning Rod, using the New Guide Concept placement. The blank is a root beer color in the light or wine color. Also, I'm using Fugi Gold Cermet guides and SIC Titanium high frames. I need some help with choosing thread colors.
