I made this up to use permagloss out of. After Bill Stevens explained to me how to use the stuff and that one neede a narrow tall contianer to use it out of I made this. Its made form 1.25" hex brass so it won't turn over and spill very easily.

I'm too clumsy to be trusted with a real thimble full of permagloss so I made this one up complete with lid.

Here is a close up of the guide fixture. If it were in better focus you could see how nice and clean the tapers turn out with this holder and a diamond lap.

THis is a little fixture I came up with to taper small guide feet. It basically is a nylon rod drilled and taped for a nylon screw to hold the guides through the eye so you can grind the foot. I use this with a diamond lap turning at about 200-300 rmp to get a very nice clean taper on guide feet. I use the lap on a GRS power hone that I use for sharpening gravers but you could also use it on a

Hey all,
It has been ages since I have been on here. I doubt any of you will remember me.
I am building a couple Ultralight spinning rods on bamboo blanks I have made. These are for 2-4lb test line intended for trout and panfish. I want an ultralight guide option for this. I have considered the Pacbay minima series but I am afraid of the singing issue with those. Can any of you reliabl

I don't' deal with warantees anyway. The price of the blank is not worth having their name on my rod.
Here is how I do things in that regard. I don't sell a rod until I have tested it and fish it to make sure it does what it is supposed to do. As has been pointed out here before, a factory defect will usually show up the first few times the rod is used.
If the customer breaks i

Do any of you have an idea of how to remove Sage Factory labeling from a blank? I avhve tried alcohol with no luck. I am afraid to try anything stronger that might harm the blank. Any suggestions.

Some one emailed me the link to the Landmark website. I like the look of their tubes with the domed brass caps. Very classy and very attractive. I think thats the way I will end up going.
Thanks guys,

The 2" tubes seem to be the standard now days. This 2pc fly rod I just finished it a delicate little thing built on a Batson 6'6" 2wt blank .
I would like to find a 1 1/2" dia rod tube 42" long if I can. I plan ot customize the tube a bit with leather covering and engraving on the end caps. A 2" t

I have sometimes used them as a second stripper on light weight fly rods. Usually on something like a 8'6" 2wt or a 9' 3wt. Mostly for aesthetic reasons rather than mechanical. I have never had a problem with the but then most folks carry a fly rod in a protective tube.
