I finally fished w/ minnows for the first time in my life last week in Texas for Crappie. I was using a 9' 6wt Hook&Hackle blank I wrapped as a spinning rod for a friend and it worked great. I'd go with a 5 or a 6 wt blank for 4-6# test.

2. Re: supplies
The whole list of sponsors at the left can take care of you. Personally, I prefer Neal's Fishing Products and Hook & Hackle. But like I said, they are all great and can get you where you need to be.

Thanks Karen! I was one of the ones that called you on that epoxy coating kit and it sounded like you had received quite a few calls about it. I'm glad to hear you've picked that product back up! I'll call next week and place my order and hopefully everyone else that called you on it will do the same.
Just wanted to say thanks!

Check out a Hobby shop that sells RC cars. The should have, or have access to, miniature stickers. The local shop here had a sheet of all the stickers you'd find on Tony Stewarts car and they were of the "waterslide" type. My guess is that they would be on the thin side and tear easily like the older waterslide paper but it would surely work. The local shop had about a dozen differe

I'll say the same too. Bob is great to talk with and even better to do business with. I know we have a lot of great sponsors but I personally patronize Bob @ H&H and Neal at Neal's Fishing Products because of the way they have treated me from my very first order.

No worries Tom, hope it helps. The child labor thing started when I was wrapping a couple trolling rods for my neighbors father's Bday. I still manually turn my rods when wrapping so one day when one of my neighbor's kids was watching me wrap he asked if he could help build grandpa's rod. I put him to work turning for me and it was awesome. "forward ... faster ...slow down .... faster ..

I have left some w/out a wrap at all but I think it looks a little funny. For the rest I use a hand held bobbin like you would use for tying flies or I employ child labor and have my kid give me an extra hand.

Stan,
Raising the blinds is another 25 cents a page, I'm glad you asked!
I still want to come peak over your shoulder or go grab a cocktail and talk shop one day soon, first round is on me!

No doubt Stan, I'd let you come over and look at mine through the window for a dollar a page if you didn't get yours .... what are friends for!
Myles, what kind of bottle does Tom put them in to get them to you?

Look at Calstar (E-Glass) fiberglass blanks (MudHole carries them). I have built a few for trolling leadcore for rainbows and browns. They have a soft tip but they will have all the backbone you need. The 7 footers I used were probably too light for you. They were in the 12-20 pound class and retailed in the $50 range. Their most expensive E-glass blank is still under $65 so you should be ab

Well the new issue showed up yesterday so that means I'll be completely worthless at work until I can read through it 5 or 6 times! Thanks Tom!

Putter's Dog will tell you that he prefers to use enamel. That's all I have used so far because that's what I was told to do .... There are other options in pigments but starting with testors enamel is a good idea.

All I know is that he didn't send me near enough to test! putter, gimmie about 10 more ounces of each part will ya!!!

FYI - According to karen @ Bingham Enterprises (sponsor) - Bingham no longer carries the Epoxy Coating Co. 1 Coat that Randy has teased us with. You will have to deal directly with the manufacturer unless someone else can come up with another vendor.

I too heard this from Neal a little over a week ago when calling in for help with an order.
He has been great to me since we started doing business together last year, I wish him the best.
Neal, take care Mister, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

18. Re: drywall tape
When I have had to use multiple layers of drywall tape I usually let the first one get a little stiff before adding the next layer of tape and rod bond. It does take a little longer but they have always been rock solid.

I've started using the method where you cut your tag end before pulling it through so it is short enough to not come back out the other end with your pull-through loop. The only hurdle I had was that I had to make sure I placed my loop in earlier than I had been so the thread didn't come loose. 5-8 wraps over your loop should be good as mentioned above.

As many have reccomended before, place a guide on all female ferrules first and that will help determine the placement of the rest using the static test.

21. Re: DUST
Is your work area in the path of or near a heating or cooling ventilation duct? If so that could be your source and you could make a temporary filter to put up over the vent while you work. If the dust is just "in" your home, you my want to try a humidifier. Also, be sure that you do not have any ceiling fans going or windows open near your work area. Good Luck.

Yup, two days later and I still can't bring myself to go in the garage and look at the body ... I mean blank. How Ironic is it that less than 24hrs after the incident, a beautiful aluminum rod tube showed up from Bob at H&H!!! My wife asked me, "how come you didn't have it in one of these pretty tubes?" God I love her.
Thanks for thesupport guys - I'm just scared that now that

Neal has some great deals on the Tiger Eye blanks and has no problem setting you up inexpensively with the rest of the components ... give him a call and work it out over the phone, you'll be glad you did.
So far, all of the sponsors I've dealt with have been great though.

Yup, first time for everything. I had finished a new 9' 6wt spinning rod for a friend and took it out to knock the new off it (I mean test cast) for him. I have an extended cab 2003 Chevy so the 2 rod pieces were standing vertically behind my drivers seat. When I leaned in to start my truck to warm it up yesterday the top half of the rod must have slid out into the door jam before I closed the

It's just my opinion but I'd build a 8 to 9 foot 6wt flyrod into your spinning rod. Casts great, and the fight is awesome!

Yup ... ROD BOND !! I actually think you'll find RodBond will not only be a million times easier to work with, it costs less. The small package of RodBond will do many more rods than you'll get out of the expoxy.

I would bet you would be most satisfied for a rod designed specifically for each application but you would be fine with just two multi-purpose rods. One for Jigs and one for your cranks and topwaters. Your best for rod suggestions would be to post here saying "what would you use for 1/2 -1 ounce jigs, using 12-20 test line, targeting fisg in the 5 to 10# class"? You will get a multit

I have seemed to have better luck with my epoxy curing faster in low humidity settings but it may have been more so due to fact that I also had a constant 70 degree temperature. When I worked in my garage I had fluctuations in both, now that I wrap in my basement that is insulated and heated things work much better. i believe that Tom Kirkman stated that humidity is a lot less of a factor than
