IIRC the tip size was a 10 on the Fusion and Mag, the inferno and Nail were 12 but it has been a few years since I built on any. I can check my records and should have the exact sizes. As to the butts they were supposedly different. Tommy told me the difference was in the material/composition they used in the butt sections they would all physically fit on any of the blanks. I don't think that man

Gabe, Rod Rond or any adhesive will be set 24 hours it is set to a point that alcohol is not going to touch it. A little heat as suggested os the best option now.

I use CMNAG's on mine have also used the Alps lite. The low riders are designed for spinning but many get used for conventional rods.

24 hours should be plenty of time. I have applied finish at night and fished the rod the next day with no problems on a couple of occasions.

If your worried about the guides cut them off before you send the blank back to the manufacturer. I have had to send a couple back and they told me to cut the guides off. I had one manufacturer just ask me to email them some pictures of the break got a new blank in 3-4 days. You might be out of the cost of the grips and reel seat but you should be able to salvage the guides.

I still cannot for the life of me figure out why everyone wants to know how a finish levels. They all level the same pour them out and they are flat. If your not getting a level finish you are either putting too much on and creating sagging or putting it on after it starts setting up.

I have used live bait blanks for them and they have worked fine. I also have built a couple on Calstar Grafighters they work nice too and have lots of power in the butt too.

A little steam on the foregrips should bring them back if they are not too bad. In the future either wrap from the tip down or a couple of wraps of tape over the foregrip and no skewers should work

Chuck I built one very similar to this last year I used one of the St Croix muskey blanks I can't remember the model # off the top of my head but I can look it up in my book later if you want. It handles the 3-5oz with out a problem and has the power to stop on too.

was the dog in the room when you opened it? Seriously I would say the water you thinned it down with either has allowed some mold or bacteria to form causing the smell.

What I don't understand is, unless for a repair, why would you need to mix less than 3cc of each. A decorative wrap and 7-8 guides will eat that up in no time with very little left over. I do mainly build saltwater rods so it may be different on some small fly rods and stuff but I'd rather have a little left over then have to recoat one because of a screw up.

I just tried Diamond II for the first time last night. While I am used to working with TM lite I had no issues with Diamond II. The finish was a little thicker than I was used to but it was not bad kind of a cross between Flex Coat and Threadmaster regular. I mixed by had as I always do a few small bubbles were introduced but a little warm air blown though a straw took care of them. The finish we

I would look for a smaller reel with a level wind like an Abu 5500 with 6.3 gears, if your going to use a 525 mag your going to wear yourself out laying the line on the reel especially as fast as you need to reel for the spanish. The 525 is a better choice for your next build.

I second the Rikon great lathe for the money, the only bad thing is turning is more addicting than rod building.

good thing it didn't go BOOOOM or have a flaming ramp. I hate turning a light on when the fumes from that stuff are still in the room.

I just got a set of Virtus Ringlock heavy guides for a standup 50-80# nice looking guides they should easily hold 80# or more. I think many people drastically over estimate the amount of drag they are pulling not many people are going to standup for long periods with 50# and over short periods yes but not long term, not long enough to damage guide frames.

I use 12's all the time but a lot of it depends on the knots being tied. Like you I want to keep the weight down I have told customers that they need to tie smaller shock not then show the the Bimini to No Name that I use and they learn it have no problems with the 12's. I've gotten away with 10's on some of my personal stuff. I use 17-20# Suffix running line to 50-60 shock leader so the 12's can
