I know a guy who built a flippin stick using titanium recoil guides and kevlar for guide thread. The rod is extremely light! That is why I am asking about kevlar to use as a thread. Just asking. I imagine there wouldn't be that much weight difference just using A thread instead but I am looking into building a nice flippin/pitchin stick with the titanium guides. Are there any suggestions for ti

Has anyone used Recoil Titanium Guides (Where can I buy them?) and Kevlar Thread (Like for tying flies, Where can I get?) for building the lightest strongest guides to make the lightest rod and sensitive rod out there? Any info appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I just sent Andy an email though his web site. However I didn't ask for CTS. How do you like the CTS blanks? Andy is very good at explaining rod blanks, sensitivity, weight, modulus and he claims they are the best. Do you mind saying how much for the clearance blank similar to mine? Thanks, Dave

Thank you everyone for the helpful suggestions. I measure my epoxy precisely and used the same mixture on the guide wraps. The wraps are dry, but the label is still tacky... I don't know what went wrong. I will recoat tonite. Thanks, Dave

I have a decal area, 4" long where the epoxy finish is slightly wavy and hasn't totally dried. It is still a bit tacky. My question is how can the tackiness be fixed? It has been 2 weeks and is still tacky. Any suggestions? Sand, reapply a thin coat? Puzzled, what do I do? Thanks, Dave

This rod will be used for 2 applications. First for steelhead fishing (now and next 2 months) in Michigan rivers, Manistee, Muskegon, etc. wading. The second application is for Dale Hollow smallmouth fishing, Nov-Jan., float n fly method , from a boat. Spinning reel will be medium size, using 8-14 lb. test depending on conditions and application. Thanks, Dave

I am building a 10' Med action spinning steelhead rod, fast taper. I have never built one before. My question is: can someone help me with the number of guides, type of guides and the spacing needed. Also how much length for the handle, reel seat and foregrip. Thanks, Dave

I guess the grips I have are the hypalon grips. I bought a ton of them at an @#$%& at a friends house who passed away and was a rodbuilder. They are very firm. Where can I get the pilots to glue to the wood spade bits? Also, How much will the hypalon grips expand, or otherwards if they have a 3/8" hole will they expand to say like 5/8"? I tried the hot water method, a dry run, and
