No of corse not, but it will turn about 5 to 7 degrees, this is on a 12 wt. rod, have only built up to 7wts. I have not nottised this effect, never built a 12w before. but the affect still exists. My gess I'm shure is the heaver the rod the more pronounced the affect. Curt

the guides are on the bottom of a fly rod and it turns under load. It seems that people are forgetting physics. Therefore the spine does have an affect! Curt

This will start something. Build the rod on the spine and it wont do that. and I have found that that can happen even with multi piece rods I built a 10w awhile back and got it off spine and when a 30lb.+ rock fish jumps on, the rod twists in my hand. I have wondered about casting accuracy, flying a little left or right, but never tested that. Curt

Burnish from the ends of the wrap to the middle, and not so vigerously. pull on the tag end after you pull it through to create a small gap in the thread then make shure you keep the blade straite up and cut the tag and push the gap closed with your burnishing tool. Curt

Well I'm one of the locals and I use 6-6 and 7ft.max a long rod will ware you out jigging all day even more so in a hard running tide ware it takes 10-16 oz to keep it banging on the bottom. medium heavy, medium fast action, and on some rods medium action. when the big ones shake their head the softer tip helps prevent them enlarging the hole the hook is in and come unpinned. lost a lot o

Sounds to me just a little too much tension. the more threads you lay down the thicker the layers of threads are. with heavy tention the thread you are trying to lay down is sinking, sliding down the side of the stack of threads, you try to move it back and it moves right back. It took me a good while, think offence lineman big hands. I solved the problem for good when I started using the bo

Use a water base CP and epoxie. be carful, be light handed with the brush, china brush, don't over load it with CP, and you mite want to thin it down just a little. Let dry well before finish. Curt

For example I had a refurbish job wooden handle. the groves that were turned in the handle I filled with brass powder and it looks like metal trim rings, don with powder instead of solid rinds, the grip is still in one piece. Curt

I purchased a 32oz. kit standard build in 2-24-16, to have on hand for when I run low. I just pulled it out of storage kept in the basement cabinet stays about 68deg. the hardner is fine but the resin is a very thick white gell all but the top 1/2inch . I have seen it in my high build but only in the bottom 1/2inch I don't use it very often but a little heat in a pot of water and stir it

If you want to fold the blank in half get a ugly stick you can touch the grip with the tip and not hurt it .

As Donald said you have the majority of what you need for the build, and what he said about broom sticks disguised as fly rods is very true I gess there mistaking them for bass rods. As he said fiber glass or E-glass cant be beet im a bit old school. I really like the Batson products as well as St. Q, the one thing you want to do is pay close attention to the spine, stratest side normaly the s
