The triangle chuck is the real deal, I moved ends of the two piece drier to every angle I could and I could not make it fail or even think about coming loose. This will replace all other drying chucks, at least mine when they are available. Curt

I made a burnishing tool- 1/4 wood dowel handle, and took a small rubber wheel out of a tape player.made a u-shaped bracket, cotter pin and role the matalic no damage. Curt

I have rather large spin seats I got several years agow never used one collecting dust, I will be in my shop tomorrow I will check the size if the same I will send you how many you need I have five free I will never use them I have stayed with fresh water only. Curt

I have been long lining for trout in new Hampshire and main since the early 60s . have always used 7' 6 spinning rods and fly rods the flex the glass has can put up with the twisting and turning trout perform when they are first hooked moor so the brookie, and soft mouths, without throwing the hook as often as stiffer rods. adds up to more catching and by a good percent. I will be doing my first spirole wraps on two trout and landlocked salmon trolling rods will be using level wind reals on them do I still need to possibly off set the stripper to deter stacking of some sort,I know its a level wind but is there something I may not be aware of this type of wrap is all new to me. I have not receved this months mag. yet with the pass for the reception, the wife and I are leaving here on the 14th. for our 35 anaversery then to the EXPO . I wont have the pass for the reception if its not here by Saturday. Will that be a problem getting in? Thanks Curt

You mite want to look at the micro wave system for distance casting. last winter I took three identical crank bait rods set up two with micro wave the third the cone of flight setup my wifes rod and mine far out performed the third casting distance and accuracy . I always have a couple of flashy rods on deck usualy sparks conversatrion I let people try them when im out fishing on the water

Over time fly rods have gotten faster and more powerfull, new materials exc. I have found that most manufactures weather deliberate or not will call a rod a certain weight and will almost always test out to be a little higher. and of corse line manufactures do the same you will find lines that are called a certain weight weigh a little heaver or lighter at the same length of line. I assume I have an idea as to why to use a spinning guide layout but you know what happens with that, don't like the ass part. could you please provide the experts version. good tip on the eva all I do is cork didn't even think of it. Us a polishing rubbing coumpound mild abration, polish the inside femail side and outside male side I do it by hand but you can use a dreamal tool very slow speed 300-900 rpm. and keep the buffing wheels wet.

A friend gave me two batson-forcast blanks RX6 MB 785 12-25lbs. 3\8-1-1\2 oz He would like to make them trolling rods for trout and landlocked salmon would like to make them 2-pcs. itseemed to me that they may be a little strog for the soft mouths during the strike not shure im not a trolling person and not familiar with these rods, I have built a couple fly rods with RX7s perform quit

Thanks Jimmy that's just the ticket. Paul the sinking tip well sort of is made denser by the line being woven much tighter than a floating line, the diameter of the line is much smaller made with the same amount of material, think water displacement it displaces less water making it heaver than water. I inharited all of my fathers fishing everything, fly tyiing,equip. tons of fethers hooks rods reals rod building tools ill get to the point, all his fyl lines are well taken care of cleaned every year and put into cigar boxes for storage 43 lines in all I know their from 3wt. to 8wt. in every configuration, he had a system I don't know of for non of the lines are marked what weight. at

Its no different than having a car with or without' without, the paint takes all the punishment. with, the clear coat takes all the punishment I gess its how long you want the paint to last, a good time with, or a little less long without. Happy Holidays Curt

St Croix has a wonderful blank I built it last winter its the most accurate rod Ive ever had I built it for very low canopee conditions a couple are like fishing in a pipe excelant line control and handels large fish well.

The logo is overbearing they need to make a but cap with it on the bottem, A couple designs are nice but most look like a golf club or tennis racket. it needs to look like it belongs on a rod.
