Most pearl whites are a solid white base coat with a transparent pearl mid coat then a clear coat. I doubt you'll get the same effect out of a rattle can. I would ask a local body shop to spray the reel seat next time they do a white pearl tricoat.

I don't use the set screw on mine and haven't needed to. If I need some extra assurance I will tape a 10 Inch peice of 3/4 masking tape over the outside circumference covering both halves.

I have had similar issues with the rr321 and believe it is pinholes. I now do 2 coats of rr321, wet sand with 400 grit and final coat of lumiseal. Hope this helps, Bob

Interesting, Roger. Although I hope to never be in that situation, I have also read that a chainsaw file heated well and then inserted in a drill and run up through butt end of blank can be useful in removing grips. Thanks for the info, Bob

When using drywall mesh tape, I like to cut into 1/2" strip and leave a gap between. I will pack the mesh with epoxy and the ends to fully encapsulate. Paste epoxy works well for this.

Thanks for the tip! May I ask what braid and what pound test you would suggest? I've been an ultra light mono fisherman most of my life but interested in switching things up.

Do yourself a favor and purchase an epoxy mixer. One of the best investments I've made. For wavy edges I tear off a piece of coffee filter fold, add some DNA. Use folded edge to clean up epoxy edge. Repeat with dry coffee filter then let sit. Hope this helps, Bob

One of my favorites was the new air waves coming soon from American tackle. Could very well be the next best guide setup for UL panfish rods.
