Unless you are painting white over a dark blank or are using very transparent colors { will take several coats to cover }. I would not use primer, in this case i believe it is not necessary. I would also go with 3 coats of base and 2 coats of clear. This is assuming you are not reducing your clear. Todays clear coat has a high enough build and UV protection that 2 coats are sufficient unless you

The starting line is not a high end product. A lot of companies tend to build a high end and a low end product. Do not mistake this for the $300 SRI pro. It is a low end gun made by a Great company. I have used their products for 20 years and have been very pleased. You can pick up the starting line touch up gun for around $80.

Do a search for devilbiss starting line touch up gun. Should last for years if properly taken care of. If you don't want to order online napa auto parts carries them.
You can test your spray pattern and flow of clear on a flat pannel before you spray to get a good idea of how it is spraying. A dark panel will give you a better view of how the clear is laying down as you are spraying it. If you

Mike, it sounds to me like the fluid tip is too small. In my experience a gun that sprays base-coat well will not spray clear-coat well. When painting cars we generally go a couple tenths bigger for a clear-coat. All is not lost, take a test blank and close the fluid pattern down a little at a time. This will concentrate more of the fluid into a smaller area. Test first as you might have to adjus

A lot of great ideas here. Whatever you decide to build be sure to do it safely. isocyanates enter the system by soaking through the eyes and skin. If you cant move enough cubic feet of air through your garage i would also suggest doing it outside.

I have to agree with Tom ,spraymax does look like its worth a shot. Whatever you decide do not be fooled by flex additives (they just slow the drying process and evaporate over time ). Also stay away from fast drying clears, they tend to be too brittle.

I have an MHX F904-4 and it really throws a wf 4w and is also very smooth casting a DT 5w.
If you are lucky enough to have a store nearby that has line spooled up for you to test cast its well worth the time.

Here we go again. If your concern is the spine, not all builders will build a rod on or 180 degrees to the spine, and no it's not the strongest part of the rod. If your concern is the guide feet then go ahead and strip the guides and reel seat and rebuild to your specifications. If it were me I would enjoy fishing it just the way it is.

If your major concern is the door in the way and chains and hooks hanging from your ceiling. Most vehicles now are using a small shock to support hoods and trunk lids when open. You can pick these up at most auto parts stores. They are produces in a variety of pressures to accommodate smaller panels vs large hoods and also the weight of steel vs aluminum. With a plexiglass door hinged toward ceil

I just finished a fiberglass blanking the same manner using FC lite. I used anautomotive paint tinting color for DuPont chromobase. Mixed directly into epoxy( no extra hardeners) till I got the effect I wanted and wipe thin on using a lint free cloth or sponge brush. Head to an auto paint supply store or your favorite body shop for the tinting base. Do not use tints for water base paints and alwa

PPG DX330. When painting fiberglass panels I spray light coats between basecoats. Static electricity is an result of friction, probably from cleaning and handling. Put DX330 in a spray bottle and lightly spray complete rod blank allow to dry, then continue with epoxy. Test as usual on a scrap piece but you will be surprised as it kills static electricity.

Your best bet is to spend some time in an automotive paint store or auto body shop looking through paint code chip books from different manufacturers.
Pay attention to fine pearl colors. The metallics look too coarse for an accurate match to the sage
