181. Bass rod
I have never built a bass rod, Interested in throwing plastic worms with out additional bullet weights I see that conventional rods have abt 15 inch handles for a 2 handed cast. On a 7 ft rod that leaves abt a 6 ft of actual casting rod. . Distance is an important factor will 6ft do the job? Im also considering a spinning rod better choice? .Rod is a medium fast. Plan to use braid line.

I need a lime green Winn grip, either an 8.5 rear grip or a split grip set, either will work. I cannot find any sponsors to the left that has any in stock and that color is pretty much demanded in this case. Does anyone have any ideas? Edit...I just found that swampland has a 8.5" set.

Ok gents, I normally use butt grips that I can use my dream reamers or some other type of reamer on, however the gentleman that I am building for would like to use the matching butt grip to the one behind the real seat. What do you all suggest for this type of rear grip? It is their MHX Winn grip is you were not sure which one it is. Thanks, Tom

I just bought a few sets of Winn grips - 2 salt water and 1 light spinner. I was wondering if anyone has cut these grips, and if so, with what. The reason why I ask is because for salt water rods I use a forward grip, and would like them to match. So, I'm thinking of buying another one and cutting it to match the rear grip. I would like to have some input before I ruin a $20 grip. By the way, t

Hey guys so I am building a spinning rod soon. I want to take the 2.5inch Winn Grips and use them for the rear and fore grip. What size spinning reel seat should I get so that it will fit flush up against the two Winn Grips without them overlapping the reel seat and the reel seat will not overlap the grips. Thanks guys!

I'm about to start my second rod and was going to install a set of winn grips. The rod will be setup for spinning and built around an aero seat. I was confused on something though. In the pictures on winns website they show the fore grip as have a black extension on the back of the grip. Does this slide inside the reel seat or something? I've never installed winn grips before but as I understand

I have noticed that on Mudhole they are only offering the new style \ colors of Winn grips now... Last month they ran a sale and I purchased a set but they were on back order. Now they do not even show them on the mudhole site... I checked Getbit and they have the older style but they are now on sale as well. Does anyone know if Winn will no longer offer the previous version and only offer th

Last month I completed my first rod build - an awesome ice rod for jigging crappie. After many hours of planning I purchased all of the components for my first full size rod. The blank I chose was a 2 piece MHX pan fishing blank. Well I received everything today and after unwrapping all the pieces I realized that I never thought about how I was going to build the connection point of the two pi

I am considering trying these, but I have a question: are they like EVA, which has a lot of stretchiness? Or are they like cork, which needs to be reamed to fit the blank? I want to give them a shot, but I don't want something I have to ream -- reaming cork is probably my least-favorite rod-building task (you can probably tell that I do it by hand). I can't tell how much these things will str

We want to thank everyone for another great ICRBE. Being able to shake hands and spend time with those who stopped by is what it is all about for us. Any time we can get away from our desks at the shop and spend time with builders face to face, we are loving life! I seriously doubt there is another industry that has as many genuinely kind people as there are in the rod building arena. It is awe

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order my first set of Winn grips (the 3 piece split grip set with the 3.5" rear grip) for a Batson SB720-4. My question is what size reel seat matches up well to them? I typically go with a Fuji DPSD 18 or 20 on builds. Will these work? If not, what will? thanks, jeremy

So I have someone wanting me to build them a surf rod on a SU1088F-2-MHX. It is 9ft MH and throws 2-5oz. I need some advice as I have only built bass rods before. What kind of guides should I use with this rod? It is going to be spinning. I just dont know if double foot is a requirement for this size, or what model guide or anything else to go with. He also wants Winn grips and a foregrip. I see

Making up a spinning rod and wondered whether the winn grips fit into the back of the aero seat without too much trouble. I imagine you can't sand the winn grips back to fit them inside the reel seat easily, so it needs to fit in the seat. Anyone tried this combination?
