Hi Folks: This problem became apparent on a fishing trip in late August, and appeared as a crack in the epoxy finish at the rod (hexagonal graphite fly) / male ferrule (Nic Silver) junction. Now that I have had time to remove the wrap and assess the dammage I have found the ferrule has de-bonded. I have slightly sanded the epoxy build up and micro blasted the interior of the ferrule (increase

I've seen a lot of posts and suggestions about using waterslide paper for decals. I'm ready to go for it, but my local hobby store doesn't carry it. On the Web there are a hundred different brands. Will someone please point me to a website where I can buy the best waterslide paper out there for rod labels?

I guess I'm not sure what to call it. When I'm applying epoxy to a guide wrap, one weak spot is what I'm calling the "back side" of the guide foot. When the rod is rotating, I let the epoxy run off my brush and onto the thread. All is well and good as I follow the wrap up onto the guide foot, but when I come over the "back side" of the wrap, I have a hard time bringing the epo

Hello, I am wondering if anybody could tell me the product number of the Walthers water slide decal paper they have used with good results with their Alps printer's. I noticed on their website they had a few sheets of blank decal paper (I am assuming that these are blank waterslide papers as they were at the end of their water slide decal section). One is #706821 and is listed as a dull finish,

I have seen a few rods (a pic of a factory Sage rod in Angler's Wkshp mag) with the cork turned down to a small taper and thread wrapped over it to make a nice looking transition. (thread finished of course). THose of you with experience doing this. would you do it again, what are pros and cons, durability. I had read somewhere to put a thin coat of finish on the cork to make a smooth bed to

Ok - took some advice from those of you that regularly monitor this board. Bought some micro-mark lazer paper and such to make my own decals, got the whole smear - looks good BUT - does anyone have a computer "template" I can borrow to lay out the size of my decals? I have MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, etc, etc, the whole thing - any layout suggestions? Question #2 - I want to make some

I've just finished turning my first reelseat. I started with 1.5" X 1.5" Walnut blank and went after it with a 1/2" gouge. It took about three hours just to get it turned down to the correct diameter. Is this the normal amout of time for a project like this. Does anyone have any tips for speeding up the process. Thanks, Mike Jansson

Hand Crafted, Custom built, etc??? What else?? do you include a date, do you number the rods, do you include the rod ratings, your name? I noticed a few people do not put the rod model on the inscriptions, and I'm wondering why not? BTW: Mine look like this: Custom Built by Billy Vivona for Vince Vivona Lamiglas XC4MH Kinda run of the mill I think, but not sure what else I might add. Than

I believe I found some one that can shed some light to the mystery that had been troubling me. In most Japanese rod, the US$150.00 always have the material content at 67% carbon, 33% glass. But the $700.00 and up always claim to be 98% carbon 2% glass. On the extremely expensive one. The one over US$1000.00 way up to $3000.00 are 99.9% carbon 0.1% glass. Is it possible to make that kind o

I am looking for a combination magnifier/lamp to use for rod building and fly tying. I have the headband style loop but the focal length requires one to be very close to the work. Between an aching back and inhaling epoxy fumes, I've got to find something else....any suggestiions? Thanks

Has anyone seen anything in English on the new Fuji Low Rider Guides? They're apparantly available in the UK and Conoflex UK is apparantly using them on their fishing and tournament rods both multiplier and fixed spool. It seems also that Daiwa is fully committed to these guides on at least some of their line even surf rods,I've"heard" that Shamino is going to them as well. I've only se

2745. Rod Labels
Has anyone tried using a clear Avery label with white or light colored lettering for rod specs? Any other suggestions other than hand writing the model and specs on a rod? Thanks, By the way, I have ordered quite a few of the Mudhole Lamiglass Blems blanks in the last month. Great prices and the blanks look good. Check them out .
