Have you considered turning the handle in three sections, being careful to get the proper diameter where they meet and hand sand after gluing. Keep in mind you don't want a heavy glue seam where they meet.

I am interested in your opinion. How many coats of lite build finish you all use for the inscription and cross wrap area on size A thread, light spinning rod? I assume the guides require less. Also, your thoughts on size D for med heavy casting rods. I don't think I am using enough lite coats. Thanks, Jeff

OK, I will apply the first few inches of tape to my pant leg from now on. If alcohol may damage a blank, what is the suggested solvent for removing epoxy from the blank after gluing up the handle? Jeff Muskyfsh

John, you are correct the blue tape is painters tape and should not pose any problems what so ever. These particular blanks have been my favorite for the last few years for musky blanks and have never had a problem. I usually build my handles directly on the blank due to the fact that they are fairly long and somewhat large in inside diameter. The only thing that I do is wipe down the blank with alcohol

I just finished a weave that took me about 4 days to complete using 3M blue masking tape on the blank. While removing the tape from the blank , graghite fibers came off with the tape. I have been building rods for over twenty some years and have never seen this before. I however do not do many weaves. What the ???? went wrong. Frustrated, Muskyfsh Jeff Leonard

I just purchased a Custompower wrap and found that the motor rotates in the opposite direction I need it to for my application. When tunring handles on the rod I use interal expansion grips and the unit spins in the direction to lossen them. Anyone know of a way to reverse the direction of rotation for the motor. If not I guess I go back to my 25 year old home made lathe. Thanks a bunch for you
