I did a garnet ncp with black and it turned out ugly...looked maroon...I just finished up one with gudebrod metallic red and Electra black as the underwrap with fish hawk varigated thunder as the overwrap-no cp...Looks awesome in the sun! And it completely matches my reel!

Also, the thread doesn't have to move that much to get a nice effect...the best effects come from the number coats of finish that you apply between the wraps-the more coats applied, the more depth you get-remember the more coats of finish you apply, the heavier the finished product will weigh

You have to be a little more specific. The holo tiger wrap consists of an underwrap with 2 or more threads wrapped together(side by side) and an overwrap with a sacrificial thread. Easiest is with 2 threads for the underwrap. Wrap them side by side being careful not to overlap the threads. Wrap them tight enouh but not too tight. Once you finish the section that you want as the holo wrap, tie it

well, before i got into building, whenever i would go into a store to check out high end rods, i would ask the sales guys about the warranties. same answer all the time: "if it breaks for any reason, bring it in and we will ship it out the the manufacturer and you will recieve a new one." - nothing else. i guess thats why...

Thanks all for the great responses and ideas. The mudhole blanks were the first ones to come to mind when he asked for a couple of rods for his g-daughters...il give it some more thought...and cutting is no big deal - if I have to, I have to... roger wilson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Cheng, > Actually, for this application, it is tough to >

I've just been given the task of building a couple of fishing rods for my pastor's grand daughters. They are ages 5 and 3. My pastor wants the rods to be short. I'm guessing no more than 4'. He wants one in pink the other in purple. Since they are kids and this would probably be their first time fishing, I am going to need something that can stand up to sunfish, a 3 year old and a 5 year old. Whe

i am in the process of gathering some info on building some catfish rods for myself. i need something that can handle the 1-3oz weights along with big chunks of cut bait or live bait. most importantly, it must be able to dish it out to those cats. up here in mn, majority of our cats dont get huge - but they do get pretty big. the channels average around 10 and the flats can get up to 60. i will p

These guys are the best in the business!!! A huge thanks to bill and al at Midwest RR. I was out at the shop last night to pick up some guides and a couple of IP840 blanks from them, got home and sized up everything and found out that I did not have the sizes that I needed. I was going to wait til next week to go out there again but at the same time I wanted to get the rod put together for this

I used a layer of masking tape as an arbor for an aluminum check that was just a tad loose...it also helps center the check on the blank

I am looking for a couple of nice 7' UL mod-fast to fast action blanks to build a couple of spinning outfits on. They will be mainly used for drifting live leaf worms for stream trout. It will probably be used for some panfish here and there, as well as casting the occasional size 00 or 0 inline spinners. I am looking to spend no more than $50 on the blank - cheaper is better
