I like up-locking. I like the look and the way I hold a spinning reel, my palm doesn't touch the threads

62. Re: Cork dents
I use a clothes iron. I wrap up the cork with a towel or paper towel and steam it well. BUT I have never done it when it was glued up.

snow is not a problem. just do what I do. throw on some snow boots, trek thru the snow to a snow mound in the backyard, and start casting...your hands will get cold.

yeah you're probably not going to save any money building custom rods and trying to make money off of them is even more difficult. but it does have it's rewards. you get what you want. not what the company wants. that's a huge plus for me. the thing that held me back from building for the longest time was that I calculated the final price for a fly rod that I wanted to build and it came in close

we'll probably be tossing small trap type baits and stuff like that. most likely we will be live baiting it as well.

do your weave and finish as usual...choose your tiger color...open wrap on bottom layer of tiger and finish with white nylon thread as top layer...that should give you something if not what your looking for...try it and let us know how it goes

I've got all three...I like gudebrod cause it's "original"...fishhawk has got some great variegated thread colors...and prowrap has a ton of colors...prowrap is smaller in diameter too...

I put on a new pair of nitrile rubber gloves everytime I do wraps(unless I'm doing demo or practice wraps). never had a problem with fish eyes ever since.

I've built on a few tiger eyes as well as rainshadows. nothing wrong with the tiger eyes. or their customer service.

yes...you might not need the 16 and or 8...you could just go something in-between...one 12 or 10 should work

I would like to say that unless you guys were casting to the same spot, working the lure the EXACT same way, and still you were the only one to catch those fish then yes it COULD be that the leader length and weight that gave you the extra edge...but if not, then you prob just had the right cast at the right time.

not if you can find enough people for that order!
and I'd like to get a hold of some graphite ice blanks too.
correct me if I'm wrong but I think Thorne bros goes to st croix for their blanks.

I have them on half of my casting rods. I like them. I always palm my reels. I like the feel of these more than the ecm or the acs seats. the way I palm my reels, none of my fingers even touch the blank on the rod with the fujis. speaking of fuji, I'm still waiting for the new sk2 seats. and I have never had a reel pop off - lots and lots of solid hooksets on 6lb+ bass and the occasional 15lb cha

IMO, "sensitive rods" are used mainly for "feeling" the bottom, certain structure and certain vibrations - ie. spinnerbait blades, cranks. not necessarily bites. if you've ever sight fished for bass, you'll notice that as you watch a bass pick up your lure, you cant even feel it UNTIL the bass starts to move or move away. the way you know that the bass has got your lure in it

90. ice rod builds
I am in the process of putting together some ice rods for myself and I have some questions. i have never built any ice rods before nor have I ever ice fished up until now. these rods will be used for targeting brown trout thru the ice in the 3-7# range. I'm guessing that a solid glass blank with a med power would be best but what length? grips will either be cork, foam, or hypalon - haven't deci
