Just ran across this looking for heavy glass rods. Have a read:

I would tend to believe that a glass 9 weight rod would absolutely kill your shoulder after a full day of fishing. In my opinion the rod would be down right heavy in the hand, and you would be battling the rods inertia all day making for a miserable on the water experience. I would look for the highest modulus medium action graphite composite (maybe even boron) I could find and then go from there

Sorry, I may not have explained myself correctly. I am not refering to rod/tip wobble. What I am refering to is the line "wobble" at the point when the fly line starts to turn over. Like a wagging tale before the turnover. Allthough the line will track exacrly where you want it, at the tme of the turn over the last 3 or 4 feet of line dont turn over smoothly. Kind of like holding a sh

Curious as to what rod attributes seem to make a fly line track smoother than others. I find with ulta fast blanks the fly line tends to wobble a bit more at the line tip than in softer blanks. Is this more of a response to the line speed or are there other factors that come into play?

What is the specific wood? I cant imagine any wood taking that long. Especially something as small as a reel seat. Whats he doing ? Growing the tree? Ha ha..
Sounds to me like the project was put in line, and never really looked at until it came up for production.
P.S. As far as the 13 months goes, I had an uncle that waited well into 1 1/2 years to finally get his rod. Of course this was fro

I've tried to pull some single foot guides (no thread locks) out of an old build with some pliers. You gotta twist, turn, pull then twist turn and pull harder to get them out. The only way you MIGHT get one pulled out is if your line wrapped around one with an extremely large game fish on like a tarpon running full boar. I dont even thinka big salmon could do it. Youre rod would break first if it

I stumbled across this website today, and I must say it looks like a very interesting concept. What do you think?
Tom feel free to remove it if I violated the sites rules.

I assume its got more do do with marketing than anything else. Czech nymphing is nothing more than short line drifting (with weighted nymphs) most times without an indicater. Longer rods supposedly give you the advatage of keeping the nymphs further out from the body with a greater ability to mend line. I would guess most are probably fast actions for added feel (allthough I have not tried any o

How would trimming a tip result in a faster action? I could be wrong but I find it hard to believe that NFC blanks

I'm thinking about building a couple of Tom Morgan glass fly blanks for a fund raiser for TUDAR (trout unlimited driftless area restoration) in a couple months. I figured a couple of glass rods would be perfect for the small, clear spring creeks in wisconsin that the benefit is for. I was wondering if anyone has built on these yet as they are pretty pricy and was wondering if anyone had an opin

I know only some of these are available so far, but was wondering if anyone has had a chance to try one yet. I got a feeling they may be very nice. They got the CCS numbers posted on the PacBay website, and I'm liking what I see.
For instance the 904-4= 1.3oz butt .340 tip 3.5 ern 5.5 aa 72 freq 86 NICE!!!

I completely agree with Tom here. A mid modulus fly rod at those weights can feel incredibly heavy and cumbersum. Imagine youre forearm exorbing the deeper bending heavier (low modulus) of a 12wt rod for 8 hours. Brutal!! Go high end.... For me, even a 5wt bamboo hurts after an 8 hour day.

Gross miscalculation on Penns part!! Imagine the returns they will be facing......Ouch!! I heard recently about a similar thing happening with Echo fly rod seats.

My vote is for MHX. Fantastic blank I would put up against ANY proggressive fast actions.

Exactly Tom. When I take my inexperienced friends steelhead fishing. They inevitably ask why I am getting more hits/fish. 9 out of 10 times I tell them that they need to take up the slack in the line as so they can feel the fish take the fly. I tell them they need to keep enough tension in the line so they can "feel" the fly ticking the bottom on a drift. It IS possible to feel the bott

Vibrations can not work their way up a slack line. Impossible. Take a 2 foot long peice of mono b
