Dyneema is a high-tech woven synthetic fiber made by DSM, and is used in many brands of braided fishing line, including Raptor, Spiderwire, Sufix and Power Pro. Dyneema is soft and supple, has no memory, floats on water, and has virtually no stretch. It is also slippery, which can make tying knots a challenge. Certain knots hold better than others. There are hundreds of fishing knots for every ty

Not sure on the PP slick but PP is made with dyneema. There are only 2 super braid fibers 1 is spectra the other is dyneema both have good and bad points and one line is not a catch all for every type of fishing, mono still has a place also. To limit yourself to one type of line is like limiting yourself to one type of rod. There are no bad premium lines on the market it is personal preference

It has been my experience that taking off the butt does not always change the angle of action and in some blanks actually can increase angle of action. I have never taken anything off a tip of a blank because i am pretty sure that would alter the action drastically and definately alter the action in all cases, no scientific science to back that last part up except for repairing lots and lots of

Just sounds to me like they bought some old technology, If St Croix is no longer using it then probably Batson and Northfork are already ahead of the game, There is the top three in the game in my Opinion anyways, although there are some other nice blanks they will just be old technology, still a good product.

Since i do not build for a living, i have no problem telling someone which blanks i like and would reccommend for their application. I don't care if they take their business elsewhere it is a hobby for me. No one can build one cheaper than me if i don't want them to. If i knew someone was hiding some pertinet information or i found it out, i wouldn't buy from them be it anything. Your quality

Are you setting it up for a specific purpose? We could possibly help you better if we know what you are doing with it. You can set it up just like any other guides using the most preferential sizes to fit your application.

Can someone direct me to a vendor here, or a vendor contact me that sells tip tops in tube sizes smaller than 4? Thanks.

Batson 822.5 would be a good choice. MhX has a DS blank. St Croix has blanks to fit that bill also. You have many options. I have built on all three of these and the 822.5 is my favorite. I have also built on the Northfork Composites DS blank and it is a nice blank as well.

For those of you who are using the CCS system of measurement, has anyone ran across a blank currently produced that falls within an ERN of 9.83 to 10.63 and an AA of 78 to 82 and 6 foot 6 inches to 7 foot long 1pc spinning rod?

Do you have an estimeated time frame for when it will be on the shelf for sale? Can this be cut with water or anything else to make it thinner? Would you classify this as a lite medium or heavy build? Thanks for any info.

Matt, Roger, and Tom are spot on for their assessments. I would further submit, that just because a manufacturer designs and builds a blank for a species specific purpose doesn't mean it can't cross over into another realm of fishing. A perfect example are the two rods discussed. The popping rod makes for an excellent crappie tool and no where on the manufacturer's sites does it say that this

While it is only 10 foot 6 inches the Batson XSP 1263 makes an outstanding light weight crappie rod for it's length.

Batson popping rods are an excellent choice for this application. 840 841 and 842 will all work depending on how much power you want. If you contact them, i bet they will even give you a recipe to build it for your purpose.

As I stated, I did not read any specifics for the HD incident only what you stated, it was the first i had ever heard of it. I will infer from what you stated that it did not go to trial and that the guy was told to stop doing it. It sounds as if like I said, there was more to it than merley putting a decal on a rod blank. No where did I say that the vendor you and I are talking about "cr

I think the laws in place are there for a very good reason. No one would want something that their possible livelyhood depended on being used for just anyone to be making a profit from without some form of financial return. While I haven't read the exact specifics of the HD case, I suspect the whole incident went far beyond the mere placing of a decal on a fishing rod. One vendor goes so far a

I agree with that Jim. however being the capatilistic dogs that we are and living in the world of free enterprise, If I purchase that item for fifty cents and someone wants to purchase it from me for a hundred bucks, to use as he wants for personal use, me thinks i am not in violation of any laws. Otherwise they be a whole lot of people on @#$%& sites and all across the world selling trademarke

So if I purchased a trademarked logo item from an authorized agent such as a decal and I place it on a blank and resell that blank I am in violation of the law?? Why would anyone sell you a decal that couldn't be placed on something for resale? I have never seen a disclaimer from anyone selling licensed logos informing anyone of this, wouldn't that have to be stated as not for resale or use by

Josh, you might want to consider an IP 842 Or more power an IP 843 from Batson. I have used both for walleyefishing, I like the 843 better for what your doing. I do like the 822.5 blanks better because they are a lot faster in the tip. I just wish I could find a blank that has the same AA but lighter in the ERN department as the 822.5. While still fast the IP series is just a little to slow i

I am curious to know if you Bass guys or others who use baitcasting type reels see a downside to sprial wraps. I can find nothing negative other than appearance to some and only positive things about spiral wrapped rods. Are there any instances where the spiral wrapped rods will not perform as good or better than a conventional wrapped rod? I have switched all my baitcasting rods over to spira

How about one of the Batson popping rods, The IP841 842 or 843 extended to 8 foot might keep you in the power range you're looking for.

Batson XST 1263 for the long rod and a PacBay TSJ 721 cut down to 6 ft for the short rod. Two very nice blanks for your intended application. My bad, the PacBay blank was cut to 5' 6" for my granddaughter. I used the Batson 840 Poopping blank cut to 6' for Grandma. They both toss 1/16 Oz. jigs very nicely. I use the St Croix ultra lites for my personal builds and they are nice blanks al

I am not sure who supplied them, but back in the late 70's and early 80's some of the Tournament series Cabela's rods were built with micro or mini guides. They were on the spinning rods not sure about the heavier bass rods of that time.

I do use the tubes from the sponsors but I saw a very very nice Shikari with the swirled tube handle and liked the uniqeness of it and thought if there were any around I would like to build one for myself. Just something different. Thanks Tom, I did not know that there were straight handles from Lew's. I had only seen the swirled one.
