At that price tag-the Pac bay would fit your budget. The Renzitta is a Cadillac. ($700. +) Get the Pac-Bay with the upgraded chuck and thread carriage! If you have problems finding it for less than $400. let me know. I might be able to help. Ed Smith

Mike et al, I cannot tell you what the problem is for sure, but I suspect the folllowing: Diamondite is a Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)/PolyUreathane either a mixture or copolymer. From my analysis of this product I cannot tell which. The cross linker is benzyl alcohol. It does not use amine! It is not epoxy! When I see all these OH (hydroxy) groups floating around I cannot help but think H

Tom, Praise the Lord, I was afraid the ICRBE was about to die! I don't even have my 2009 calender yet! Get the word out that High Point is served by Amtrak. Snow does not affect Amtrack as much. Then, If Billy V. and all the Nerbs get snow, they can get a Pullman and get to High Point easily! I'll be there, even if I have to leave on Thursday. Just please, no blizzard! Ed Smith Fla

Marylou, Your problem is not unique! I too have had spools of Gudebrod metallic that contained areas of no mettalic coating. At this point I am at a lose as to where to go next. I have used Fish Hawk Black metallic but did not think it was all that great either. I did pick up a few spools from Robbie in HP but have not used them yet. I seriously doubt that there is conterfiet threat going

Bob, Two questions: When you refer to ISO to you mean Isopropyl alcohol (I call it IPA)? Would denatured alcohol work as well? Your water tip is an excellant idea! Thanks for the tip. Ed Smith Flat Rock, NC

Permagloss has CA in it. It is not oderless however. I have been known to put super glue in Xylene. Pretty good finish! The hard part was getting the Xylene (It is Cheap as Chemicals go) Ed Smith Flat Rock, NC

Bill, Did you realize that that two pipelines join outback of Bob's shop! One from Jack Daniels and the other from George Dickel. He his half way between and he blends his own "Mash" in his back yard. Far superior to your swamp juice! You better be careful when you talk about Tennesse wiskey! Ed Smith

Fuji makes a screw on type that is more designed for Fly rods. Bass Pro Shop sells a "slip over" type butt that you can put quarters into for weight. There is also one made by Matagi (I think) that fits your discription for bass rods. Someone was selling these in High Point. I cannot remember who it was. Ed Smith

Alex, I just got my issue of Bassin' today. Read the article. Very interesting approach to slowing down the tip. The Seeker idea is excellant also. While I do not like the idea of slowing down the tip with weight, I do believe the fiberglass tip might have real merit in improveing the action of both crank and jerk baits. I want to go look again at some of the rods I got in HP from Swam

I have used 1/4 inch bolts with wing nuts and washers to do the same thing. I use teflon tape to coat the bolt rather than the wax. It seems I always miss a spot with the wax. I can see the teflon. (Sometime I put two layers of teflon) Ed Smith

John, I am going to mark that date on my clender. Maybe several of us from th western part of the state might carpool from Asheville. I have thought of two topics I would consider talking about: Ultralite spinning/fly combo rods for mountain streams and pigments and binders for marbling rods (chemical compatiblity) Ed Smiath Flat Rock, NC

I have addressed this problem several ways. I have got the best results by cutting off about 3 inches of square turning stock, I then turn it down to about 1.35 inches. (Between centers). I then use a parting tool to turn the butt cap cut off point to about 3/4 of an inch diameter about 3/8 of an inch above my head stock. I proceed to shap my butt capp as desired. usually leaving the butt at

I love my mixer. I have used left over finish to glue a smaller cup into the center of the mixer. This way I don't have to make up as much finish per batch. As per cleaning the roller: I dampen a paper towel with denatured alcohol, I first wipe the roller with dry paper towel followed by an alcohol wipe. Never had any problem! Ed Smith

Bill and Lance won the Andy Dear Trash Can Rods award for their CastAway Rods at unbelievable prices! Did manage to get a sample of Andy's new CP. Cannot wait to try it. Great Show, Great semiars with Audio/Visual assistance this year. I often read articles in RodMaker and say to myself, "Noway can I do that-too difficult". Well after seeing Terry Henderson's seminar I think I c

I am similar to John. Things maybe icey in the morning but I expect everything to melt by noon. I am in the moutaians about 3 hours west of High Point. Take your time and be careful. I expect everything will be OK afternoon. Talking 44 +F afternoon. It has been warm so I do not expect much ice on the roads after sunrise. Just hope the Radisson does not lose power! Looks like Cyde de coward took a detour south of the NC mountains on his journey from Shelbyville, to Dunn, NC. Previously gators have been captured by the Wildlife Commision and transported to the coast. Dunn might be close enough to avoid deportation! High Point is a different question. Let us hope Greg Jenkins comes back to the show but Clyde might land headed for the coast! It is a long

The last two years I have encounter snow flurries on Sunday but no problems geting home. Let us hope that this holds up! Probably by Tuesday we will have an excellant idea as per the weather Ed Smith Flat Rock, NC

Bill, Too bad you Swampboys "aint never" fished for Walleyes. I am still tring to find a rod that tells me they just sniffed my bait. Those pesky guys do not "hit" anything., they just come up and chew your bait and you never know it.. BTW, I expect to see Cyde your Gator froze up as he trys to cross the NC mountains. It is still cold here. If you can tell me wh

Tim, It is said, that you don't have to use CP on black threat. If you use the CP on the Goldenrod, I would go ahead in use it on the black too. IMHO, I would use the regular black thread. NCP thread always seems to lack the luster of regular thread. Ed Smith

Tom, Apparently you now have your copy. I too thought it was excellent, if not the best outside of Rodmaker. I have received several request for additional copies. I don't know what Greg Jenkins might be able to supply but at $2.50/copy I think he better bring alot! I just hope he is there this year! And does an equally good job in 2009. I am not sure of the copywrite laws, but I think

Tom, I got my copy today. Greg Jenkins did an excellant job. I talked to him on Sunday as he walked out of the show.. He said an article would come out in 6-9 months, I think you and Greg waited until the Feb. issue. Excellant article. I will bring my copy with me to show. I think the article will add to the attendance! Only problem is I think that they comlimented Professor O'Quinn
