G'Day John I have an Epson Printer set up with a "Continuous Ink Supply" with Pigment ink & have had no problems with the colour being leached by the sun .I have had this setup for only around 12 mths & more than happy with the results .The cost of the CIS system is on the costly side but you finish off in front due to the size of the ink containers & the cost of your print

G'Day Chad I purchased some 5 min casting epoxy for a project that I was working on.When the time came to use the epoxy I put the required amounts into a alum foil pie dish mixed it up & almost gave myself 3rd degree burns from the chemical reaction between the 2 parts .I'M just giving you a heads up as to the problems that can occur with really fast setting 2 part mixes

G'Day David just make sure that the center line of the blank is parallel to the bed of the wrapper .That should help to eliminate the problem .It certainly helped with mine .I also use a rubber band wrapped around the blank & anchored to the chuck. This gives me 100% guarantee & hasn't failed as yet . There are various methods of measuring the gap between the blank & the bed of the wra

G'Day Phil here is the method that I use .I coat the blank to where it starts to become tight with glue (at the top of the grip) down to where its final position is .Then I fill the inside of the grip with DNA (Hand on the bottom to stop it running out ) & then pour the DNA back into the bottle .Then just drop the grip down to where it stops under its own weight .Hold the grip tight around th

G'Day Tristan I would doubt that they will ever be updated for a couple of reasons 1 is that the customer base is too small to warrant the time & 2 is the cost of updating the programs needed to write them. I hope that I am wrong .Why not drop David Boyle a message & ask the author at threadcentral

G'Day Eric if you use the microwave setup you will not be sorry .They are easy to setup it all comes on the packaging .As long as you put the first 3 from the butt as per instructions & the rest spaced to give the best static spacing you can achieve every thing will be ok .I make somewhere between 30-50 rods a year & about 70% finish up with microwave the other brand with about 15-20% are

As William said "all the comments are good & the only stupid question is the one not asked".When I first started building rods around 40 yrs ago the first thing I did was to buy a book on rod building by Dale Clements & it became my "Bible'.These days there are multiple learning aids out there including this forum & I would suggest that you purchase at least Tom Kirkman

G'Day Ben what you have is a size for size fit (transition fit) it will be tight .You need a clearance fit either a 12mm or a 29/64"bit to give you the clearance you require or maybe a bit more .Alternatively you could ream the hole with some sandpaper on a dowell mounted in a drill & run it up & down through the drilled hole until you have the clearance you require

G'Day Jeff I personally wouldn't use heat or alcohol to remove the epoxy as both could damage the blank .I would just cut them off & redo them but that is just me others will have other methods that they have found suitable .The reason for the first layer of epoxy didn't dry was either incorrect mixing or the ratio for the mix was wrong.

G'Day Michael it,s not a little wave I apply the heat with the rod rotating at a low speed 6-8 rpm until the tip separates from the blank .Once it has separated I can touch the blank & not finish up with burnt fingers . I think the epoxy acts as an insulator & as the tip is under tension as soon as the epoxy has loosened it''s grip off comes the tip.All I can say is that I have been us

I've used Rogers method for years & never had a problem .I always have the rubber band stretched a tight as it will go & just wave a cigarette lighter underneath the blank.I don't leave the flame in the one place for any length of time but keep it moving until the guide flies off .The blank is always just warm to the touch as it appears there's not too much conduction of heat through the

G'Day Sean Glenn & Chad have given you some good advice & no doubt you will receive heaps more & everyone will be correct .What you will have to do is keep trying the different methods until you find one that suits you & your getting the results your looking for. as for my method I use a spatula to apply the epoxy .The spatula doesn't touch the blank with the dryer motor runnin
