Does anyone have a "waiver" that they use when lending out rods for a demo. Im thinking of doing a demo program, but dont want rods not to come back. I was thinking of something that they gave credit card info and charged the card if the rods were not returned. Im sure someone out there has gone down this road before.

I've seen pics of a tour star grip being used with an aero spinning reel seat. For those that have used this setup, did you use the casting or spinning grip from tour star?

Was just wondering if anyone knows if the woven graphite foregrips from batson will fit in an american tackle aero reel seat?

no knots will have to pass through this guide so that's not an issue. As far as ice... I've never had an issue before. I never thought about bending down a guide. Maybe a size 6 will be a better bet if i bend it closer to the blank.

I'm building a new set of walleye trolling rods and decided to go with the simple spiral on them. For the bumper guide, is there any reason a #4 micro wouldn't work. I'm trying to keep the profile of the guide down so its not sticking out so far. From everything I've read, all the guide is doing is keeping the line off the blank. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but wanted to check and see if

Looking to build a spinning rod to toss small crankbaits like shad rap #5's and Flicker Shads. Not sure what blank would be better suited for this. Has anyone used either of those blanks for this application and how did it work out?

Have a customer looking for a walleye trolling rod. He brought me a 7' Wright and McGill Skeet Reese S Glass Crankbait rod and said he wants it just like this without the split grips and yellow blank. The blanks I can find that look close are, the MHX CCB 865 X Glass, Batson GCB70MH, or the RDR70M. Anyone have a clue on what blank would be the best match to the Skeet Reese blank?

I have a request to build a "Survival" themed fishing rod. The rod needs to be a 3 or 4 piece packable spinning rod. The customer wants to incorporate survival gear into the rod. Things he mentioned are, a firestarter, knife, water purification tablets, paracord, extra hooks. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to incorporate these items into a fishing rod. Does anyone have any ideas on

I have a customer looking for a set of rods for inland lake walleye trolling. Lures will be small crankbaits and bottom bouncers with worms trolled on 10lb mono. He is looking for 2 7'6" rods and 2 6'6" rods. I was thinking about the MHX CB903 and MHX CB783. Has anyone used these blanks for that type of application?

The biggest problem im having is finding a blank to use as the extension piece that the taper will match up with the original. What do you think about tring to use a peice of aluminum tube as the grip extension?

I have a blank that im looking to extend and make into a telescopic rod. My question is, how much of the original blank needs to remain inside the handle assembly to keep the strength of the rod once it is extended?

When building a spiral wrapped trolling rod, do you guys put the bumper guide on different sides of the blank depending on the side of the boat the rod will be on? Ive always just placed the bumper on the same side as the reel handle. I was just thinking it may be a better option to put the bumper guide on the side of the blank that will be facing the rear of the boat. I'm not sure if it w

Thanks for the input Tony. Have you built on a RDR70M? If so, how does it compare to the SPG845? Also, do you think 845's would have the backbone to pull a #1 dipsy in a pinch?

Looking for a glass blank to use as trolling rods. These will be used on lake erie to troll for walleye. They will be used to pull inline planer boards with deep diving crankbaits(reef runner 800's) or worms with inline weights up to 3 oz. Line used will be 10lb mono with Daiwa 27lc reels. Im looing for something with a soft enough tip to not "surge" the inline boards when in waves

Looking to build a rod to vertical jig the Detroit river for a trip this coming spring. I've never fished there but from reading it looks like jigs from 1/2oz to 1oz are quite common in the early season. I was thinking about building a Batson XWS62MXF. But after some looking into the jig weights being used Im wondering if a SJ783 cut down 3" wouldn't be better for the application. I know

I have a request to do a full grip out of stingray skin, it is not like the snake skin Ive used in the past. It is more like a leather. I am a bit puzzled as to how to attach the skin to the grip. The customer does not want epoxy over the skin so it will keep its natural texture. I was planning on using a graphite tube handle with the skin overtop. Has anyone done this or something similar in t

Looking to try a Batson XSB782 as a walleye jig rod. I have had luck with most brands SJ782 blanks for the application. Just looking for something a bit lighter in weight. Has anyone compare the XSB to a SJ as far as power and action?

Im looking for a blank to build as a baitcaster for river smallmouth. Line will be 8 lb mono on a daiwa sol reel. Lures will be 1/8 oz spinnerbaits, in line spinners like rooster tails, small top water and weightless 4" senkos. The fish aren't huge with a big catch being around the 3lb mark. I was looking for a 6'6" blank. Had may eyes on the lamiglas LSJ 781 or Phenix UMBX-S606L-B

MHX SJ781! Best perch rod I've built. Very light weight, light enough tip to detect they "shy" bites, and enough backbone to handle the sheephead when they decide to take the bait. I built mine as a spiral wrapped baitcaster and its great. I use a baitcaster with a flipping switch to just allow to bait to fall to the bottom. Add some 10 lb braid and your good to go. Im sure it would

Has anyone used these yet for a micro build? What did you think? They look like they have a "laid forward" angle to them. I really like the regular alconite size 4's but have seen alot of them bending lately. Just looking for something a bit more durable.

Thanks for all the help guys! I spoke with the customer today and he wants to stick with the original rod length. He said that its only a 12' yak and he can reach around the front fine even with a 6'6" rod. The reason he likes the shorter length is that he says it easier to land fish. Having never fished from a kayak before, Ill just have to take his word and give him what he wants.

I got a strange request from a customer today. He his looking for a frog rod for kayak fishing. Having never fished from a kayak before I'm not sure where to start. His only requests were that the rod is no longer then 6'10", has a short rear grip(7"-8") and has the power to fish heavy pads with 65 lb braid. I was thinking about the MHX 785 and either extending it or seein

Im looking for a parabolic blank to use for flipping 3/8 oz jigs with a trailor. Line will be 20lb floro. Anyone built on this blank? Do you think it has the backbone to get a solid hookset with single hook baits?

you shouldn't have to worry about line touch if its a spiral wrap. And 13 plus a tip seems like a bit to many even if it was a all on top set up.
