I use the double sided carpet tape available at any hardware store.

On a new build, I'll use Rod Bond to install them. On rebuilds, where the grip is being installed from the butt of the rod, I use double sided tape and lighter fluid.

When I'm inlaying wood pieces in grips, I overbore them and install a foam arbor. Then it reams just like the cork. I couldn't imagine having to ream a piece of stabilized wood.
In this instance, I would cut out the wood pieces, core them, then reassemble.

When I do something like this, I turn the wood to its finish dimensions and then glue on the cork and turn the cork down to the wood.

You will end up spending more on accessories than you did on the lathe.

Just preference here, but I wouldn't want to turn stabilized blocks on a 1/4" mandrel. Too much flex IMO. 3/8" is the smallest I use for wood and acrylic and most of the time I use 7/16" and 1/2".

Get 2 barrels and hoods from skeleton seats and turn a nice insert. Add whatever length you need in the insert. Fuji sells the components individually, so you don't have to break up a skeleton set to do this.

Does the overall assembled length of the blank equal the advertised length? If so, the ferrule fit is proper.

From your description, to me, wavy = too much finish applied or worked with it too long. Tiny pimples sound like thread fuzzies sticking up. Both easy fixes. The fuzzies can be cut off with a sharp razor once the finish is fully cured. If the waves are too bad, I'd file them down with a small flat file and recoat.

Sanding will be fine. Use a sanding block so you remove the hardened epoxy and surrounding EVA equally.
If you would try to pull off the epoxy, you will take chunks of EVA too.

Heat has no effect on those wraps. The finish is very hard and brittle. Like Tom said, cut along the top of the guide foot and peel it off.

You will likely get the same answers over here as you did on Bass Resource, just more of them.

Tru oil is what I put on all of my cork work. I apply it with a paper towel at high speed on the lathe. Apply it and wipe off the excess.

48. Re: Guides
Mudhole's prices are MSRP. I doubt you will find lower prices at any authorized Fuji dealer because Anglers Resource sets the MSRP and wholesale prices.

My 25+ year old dremel crapped out about 2 years ago. The shaft stripped. For a while, I installed a scrap piece of a St Croix crankbait blank as the shaft. It lasted for another year or so. I can't remember the model I have now, but it works just fine. I still need to get a new 90° head for it cause the one for my old one doesn't fit. The 90° head makes I easier to trim blanks and grind gu

Never broke one of my builds. Never broke a rod in the act of fishing either. Before i started building, my rod locker claimed a couple and a fire extinguisher on my boat got one too.

I put it on a mandrel and chuck it up in my lathe. I use a parting tool to make the cut.

I didn't read the other replies, so forgive me I I repeat something already said. I'd just remove the damaged rings and redo that end of the grip.

I have plans to buy one of those cheap computer battery back-ups. I think it would solve all of the possible power failure issues. Right now, I won't coat a rod if there are storms in the area.

Inventory is pretty good. Get a BO for Fuji sometimes and it's hard to say with them on replenishment. Sometimes she doesn't have the St Croix I want, but she has it dropshipped directly.

Depending on which model 3000 he has, the spool diameters are as follows.
C3000 - 46.5 mm
3000 - 49 mm
The C designates the compact body model. This utilizes the 2500 body.
The other one is a true 3000 size
