Here's a simple one I built back in 2011. No clamping required. Place it at 10% and get the normal CCS measurement. Slide it back and you can get measurements anywhere along the blank . Nice option if you are considering trimming a blank and want to know the resulting CCS before actually cutting the blank. Looking at the Mudhole one that Kevin posted, it's very similar to mine. Finished this one yesterday for a customer who likes his trips to Ontario. It's built on a St. Croix SCV 5S70LF-B. Love the paint on these blanks, it really jumps in the sunshine. The guides are TiCh colored with zirconium rings placed using the 27X layout. Might be hard to see in the picture but the butt inlay is a canadian collector's coin with a gold/silver maple leaf design.

This is a rod I did for my 12 year old son. It's his first baitcaster so lots of practice ahead. It's built on a RX7 IMB783, carbon fiber split grips and spiral wrapped. Going to pick out a new reel soon.

This build started with a blank that is no longer available from Batson. It's an RX7 ISP843 three piece travel rod for walleyes, smallmouth, etc. Eastern red cedar split grips, rattle snake skin inlays. The guides are American Tackle Microwaves. Never really used the variegated thread before but it seemed a good fit for this build.

My customer wanted an ice rod for his wife who is a nurse. After a lot of back and forth here's what we came up with. Hope she likes it, it's her Christmas gift.

Still early October and already have a couple ice rods out the door. This one is a cut down Batson SPG601. I poured and turned the blue/silver grips using casting resin and PearlEx pigment powders. The reel seat is something I create from the Batson pipe style spinning seat.

This is a St. Croix SCV, light, fast blank cut down from 6'6" to 6'2". It makes it easier to get around in the brush based on the streams where the customer likes to fish. The grips are butternut and the guides are American Tackles Microwave spinning guides.

Built this for a young lady who likes cotton candy colors and the number 22. (Not sure why so don't ask... :) The blank is a Batson SB722 and the guides are wrapped using the NGC X27 method. Grips are custom poured and turned casting resin with PearlEx powder added for color.

Just finished this one up last night. It'll be a birthday present for a 14 year old Wisconsin lad. He likes his hunting and fishing so it's got one of my cedar handles with a shotgun shell inlay and deer head while guides are wrapped in blaze orange. Also added some feather inlays. Built it using a Rainshadow MB783 using MicroWave spinning guide system.

Although it's very fish-able, this rod is intended to be a wall-hanger for a southwest metro bass tournament series. I built it as a bait casting rod with custom gold/silver acrylic split grips and simple spiral wrapped micro guides. Each year the new champions' names will be added to the rod. Kinda' like the Stanley Cup.

My father, brother and I had a great fishing trip in Ontario early this past September. I built this rod for our guide as a thank you. He did a great job getting us on fish and each day prepared a fantastic shore lunch. Sounds like we're heading back next year too. Can't wait!

Here's an ice rod that I finished this weekend. The handle and fore grip were turned from birch. Created my half-pipe reel seat from Batson's pipe style seat. The customer wanted one to match the earlier one I had made for him.

This one is for me. :) The blank is a Rainshadow XP841, the handle and reel seat are turned from a piece of stabilized spalted big leaf maple burl, the guides have zirconium rings and were positioned on the rod using the 27X method and static testing. I finished up the build with a closed diamond wrap.

Custum rod built for my brother for an early September Ontario pike trip. The rod was built on a Batson IMB784 blank. The guides are hard aluminum oxide placed on the rod using the new guide concept with 27X and static guide placement. The handle is one of my custom turned eastern red cedar handles with UND logo. It was finished using CA. The closed weave is the 3D Chevron from Billy Vivona'

Finished this Forecast two piece steelhead rod for a hazelnut farmer out in Oregon. It's got a tiger wrap and custom turned bass wood split grips with the customer's logo. This is the first rod where I got to try out my new decal process. I've been doing water slide decals up to this point. In fact the logo on this rod is a waterslide. The signature on the split grip, the name on the tube and the

Just finished this today. It's a Rainshadow RX8 XSW68MX walleye rod. The zirconium guides were laid out using the new guide concept with the 27X method followed by static testing. I turned a matching eastern red cedar handle and reel seat. It's also got the owners initials inlaid into the butt of the rod plus a decorative scales wrap.

29. ATC Rod
Just completed this rod for a retiring air traffic controller. It's built on the Rainshadow RX8 XSW68MX blank with zirconium guides. The handle is wood and is covered entirely by one decal that I created using a picture of the approach map emailed to me from the tower. The tower itself is in the foreground. I didn't want to risk putting something hot like PG or LS on the decal so instead I ap
