Rattle can or spray gun? Rattle can will work but might not last. Spray gun with ureathane auto paint with proper prep is outstanding and tough. It also is flexiable enough or you can add flex agent. I would tape up the wraps just to keep it clean. I might even put a thin coat of epoxy on after I painted the rod just to get rid of any masking line.

I think the term shut down pretty much means... no production!! No production means no income! I hope and pray that guberod survives just due to the beating Pottstown PA has taken in the last bunch of years. I myself won't promote any other rod thread, Use maybe, promote no! This discussion is on another site right now and Guberod has a long hard hill to climb I just hope they can. The way I see

I have not had a slippery problem at all and I fish the rocks in NJ. I have beat my rods up pretty good and really the scratches aren't all that bad, Mostly just the top finish never had a dig tear into the carbon or glass.

Seeker, BS706S or BC706S Both are S glass and light and strong. The B S is "spinning" It just has thinner walls then the BC. Both have great actions!!

Look at American Tackle's SW1085,87,88 and 89. or American Viper series, they are copys of the old All Stars and match your specs..

The "new " All Star does not sell blanks and the rods with the All Star name are not anything like the old USA made All Stars at all..

This is one of my pet peaves as well and no one you argue with will understand or see it the way it is. One other problem is that since the internet I think companys have replaced rods even when they shouldn't have just to save face. The last thing most of them want is bad press by the "experts" on the internet!! Lesson should have been learned seeing what happened to Fenwick!!

The graphite hasn't changed.. the way it's made and it's diameter has changed. Being ignorant to technology is stupid but leaving the old behind is just as stupid. IM-6 and IM-7 Hexcel materials made some of my favorite blanks. E- and S- glass also make some great rods. Some of the high modulus blanks made to day are wonderful as well.. Billy,I'll bet he has no idea what nano Carbon is!!!

I have only had the chance to try one and it was the MB664-1 and it was a beutiful blank. The action was great!! I wouldn't look at NFC as a new version of Loomis this is a whole new venture that hopefully will make it's own foot prints on the industry!!

I really don't think the guy is totally out of line at all with his blog. I've heard blab of alot worse from others. IMO spine and just the word spine, is the worst word a fisherman can know. They treat it "the word" like it gives them some secret little thing about rod building and it is thrown around like it's sliced bread!! As far as Made in China statement.. IMO once something is

Heat gun lightly and peel them off and then wipe the glue off with paint thinner it takes less then a minute. Be careful with the heat gun on any rod but that thin S-glass won't take a whole lot!!

The Batson is a good rod but I prefer the Amtak1087, 1088 or 1089 both IMO have a nicer action to them. These are 1 pc as well and very close to the old All Stars!

Tony P has a point about retreiving the line on a dry surface and no resistance. This is where I would look at the problem.. No such thing as a wind knot.. Not wind.. like blow.. but wind like wind a clock.. This is exactly what they are! This term is like spine and spline no one seems to know which is right.. it is wind like a clock!!

Most wind knots are not due to the rod but the line lay on the reel, the type of braid, or type of reel. If anything is causing wind knots on the rod it's the placement of your butt guide/ gather guide. You might want to move the butt guide closer and farther away from the reel face. I would think it might want to go closer first. If none of this fixes it I would look at how the line is spoole

Regular hardware places.. Ace, Depot, Lowes places like that. The spar is a quick and easy way to do the grips.

Josh, Which All Star blank are you looking for?? All Star stopped selling blanks in `04 and stopped producing real rod LOL.. in 07 I beleive.. They are nothing but import factory rods that are nothing like the Real All Star!! Loved those rods!!

Excellent.. Now that's the way it should be. Right down to the minute details!! Steve, I might be wrong but I don't think you can import or export raw carbon fibre. But if they are using US made staples.. I think the raw material is made in USA. To some this isn't important but in todays economy I think it's even more important!!

I use 2K spray urethane automotive finish and it's the clearest finish and tough as nails. It can be wet sanded and polished if you wanted to go crazy!! Other then that the Lumaseal or Permagloss works well too. The Spar Var works but has a slight yellow tint which is fine on certain colors.
