242. Re: Eglass blank
I second The Seeker 120-5 1/2 , 100, 120-6 and nice E-glass blanks. But I prefer the BS553, there is a 552,591 I never used ,might be more what your looking for. Also the SP 550 and 551 are UL rods the 551 is 2 pc. These aren't expensive blanks at all..

Jim where are you located? You could try Billy Vivona the NERB to find out about the Seekers. If you choose the Lamiglas the GSB is the one.. med action and easy to load. If your looking for something in a 2 pc I can also suggest the Talon 132 except it's 11'6" it could be cut! Also in the Seeker line up is a 10' 93H Ulua Super Seeker which will throw 2-5. To many options?? You have to buil

244. Re: choosing a blank
I would stay away from the Lami Int and go with the GSB for sure.. If you want a blue rod you could try the Seeker CSW1008 which is 10' 1 pc and rated to 3/4 to 3 1/2 but cut it down at the tip and you could get it to 5 oz. Also the Seeker CSJ 100 10' 1 pc cut a bit off the tip... bingo.. This would be a good eel stick!! Both rods are a dark blue!! These are nice composite blanks I build on

For the finish and small area repairs Permagloss type products work well. As for the hair drier It can blow dust on the finish. I use a propane torch to work my epoxy

Why not put black carbon in that area and paint it with a tinted clear or candy color. I do this and paint over black carbon tinted red, green or blue what ever color you want. It's takes time in prep but it's worth the effort!!

I beleive that Bob Loomis is Gary's nephew and used to run the old ATC which was Shakari at one point. I beleive it was also Loomis golf in there some where! I maybe wrong but Gary Loomis started LCI and that somehow was connected to Talon! North Fork is all Gary Loomis with a great bunch of people behind him to produce some great rod blanks. I hope and think they are here to stay!! We need more

What oz. lures is he throwing? Where does he fish? Rocks? open beach?? St Croix make some great blanks and if anything I find them on the fast side. Seeker, and Lamiglas GSB are med actions mostly. You can check the Lami SSU series which is faster in action then the Arra and GSB, The Batsons SUR seem mostly fast actions to me as well. Still wishing the All Stars were still around!!!

Factory built (most) are built in an assembly line fassion and not that they don't care but they can't spend too much time tinkering with the details. That's where building your own is different. You get to build what you want how you want. Addictive!! Oh yeah big time! The more you get sucked in the worse it gets.. LOL... I love building too!

One of Seekers Ulua blanks might be good for this. Though they are in the 10' range. Is this West or East coast?

I would say a rod or anything made of a natural product like wheat, corn, soy, or carrots will or can break down.

There was a M5 fiber that I believe was developed for defense stuff and either Dupont or Magellan Ind. were looking to produce it. It was to be stronger in compression and tension thenE or S glass or HS or HM carbon and not degrade in UV or high heat. It's supposed to be like a plastic type thread. I haven't heard much about it in a few years though.

The Seeker CBS series is a nice choice. I use these for a lot of my freshwater builds. They have great actiona and are thin and light weight. The BS756 S-glass is nice but has a larger butt diameter.

The only true home method for a paint job that will LAST is use Duplicolor auto touch (or any of the auto type spray paint) up for color coats. Then search the web for a 2K ureathane that comes in a can.. Yes a can!! You spray it like any other spray paint but it is a true 2part ureathane and is very tough. If you E-mail me I can tell you the product name!!
Also if the original finish is ok (not

Seeker's inshore CSW /CBW series are kick butt. At least some of the CSW's are graphite/ S-glass not all are E-glass as the catalog says. Also their Hercules series are very light and strong for their weight. The prices are not out of site for what you get!!

15' might be tough to find and most will be glass if you do. Talon makes two Ulua blanks BCY040 4-6 oz and BCY29 6-8 but both are 14'0. These are all graphite and aren't very heavy or thick at the butt. You also can get them in a see thru red color. Other wise I can tell you how to match the Super Seeker color... with Spray cans if needed!

I only find the glass or carbon /glass to have a seam that sometimes even heat shrink can't get rid of. Carbon and carbon kevlar sleeves are so soft that the seams disappear once snugged down on the grip. The shrink tube method is the best method IMO to do these grips!

I use a BS706s and 756s for walleye and bass all along the Delaware river and local lakes. These blanks have great action and good power. The color is natural S-glass or green. Kind of a Army green!!
