She told me, but , nooooo, I did not listen again!!! She always said,``KEEP YOUR HANDS TO THEM -SELVES``. That was good advice as I was growing up. It is still good advice today. Just two hours ago I epoxied up the guides and all, I built an epoxie ramp to the fore grip. When I came back to look at it I just had to touch!!!!! I wish some one would slap my hands now!!!!! I think

Hello Richard, A couple of things I have learned in my short time of building is Light wraps on a dark blank just will not work.. I have read where some say to paint the area of your wraps. Well that would never work for me. So, I keep away from light color wraps for now. In regards to the guide feet showing, After grinding or fileing which ever you do, you can take a black permanent marker

For the builders who apply eurathane or epoxie to the cork handles, Have you found that it makes it to hard to keep your grip when the handles get wet? I did one handle with two part epoxy for some one, it looked beautiful how ever it seemed as if it could slip out of their hand to easily. Thanks, Bill

Alex, I just the other day read where you can take a dowell rod slightly smaller tha the rod butt. Put a heavy coat of epoxy on the dowell then slide the EVA on the the dowell. This wii coat the inside of the EVA with the epoxy which will act as a lubricant to help it slide. With that done, epoxy the handle area of the blank. Align the dowell rod against the butt of the rod and just push it

Tom, Too bad, it sounds like we have far to many whiners out there! You try to do something good for the craft and people have to complain. I have mine. It is not on my truck as of yet, as my lease is up in two months so I will wait till I get a new truck and will display it proudly!!!!!!! I for one thank you for taking on the cost and trying to unite us in spite of ourselves. I`m glad

Good Morning Tom, I knew I read this somewhere thanks for the info on it. Remembering back months ago when I did read this issue there was some thing that was not right. Now, after re-reading it I have found out what it is. The article starts on page #22 continues on #23 and #24. Instead of having page #`s 25 & 26 I have another #23 & # 24. It then goes to page #

I have been trying to print labels with clear Avery labels. I am not having any success. I thought I read something on this last winter in rod Maker mag but, have only found the article on using the Brother Label Maker. I much would rather choose my fonts and use a clear label. Thanks, Bill

Thanks Tom and Billy, it really looks to be a great article to read . He brought the rod in at lunch yesterday and has a crack in it from guide to guide. I said you may just give to me. Some day I will need a guide or two plus a couple of reamers. Thanks for your thoughts. Bill

A friend backed over his store bought Mitchell med. action 6`6`` spinning rod and crushed it half way up the blank. Is this repairable by using ferrels? If so, how do I correctly measure the size needed. Thanks to all. Bill

Anthony, My first several rods were from a kit. I learned right away that rod building is indeed a craft. It is relatively easy to assemble a kit, but to make it personal with your butt wraps, guide selection, guide placement, handles etc. takes a lot more than following directions from a kit. Check out the photo tab and then tell me these people are not craftsman. As for me, I am not a

Pete, I also do as Mike said. I draw the plunger half way back and just let them lean in an upright position in a plastic tray until I need them again. I have re-used them a couple of dozen times with no problems. Bill

I would like to build on a white blank. I have never seen any in catalogs. My thought is they must be painted, so I made a trip to my local aotomotive paint dealer. I bought a can of adhesive promoter of some sort and a couple different colors of paint made to with stand flexiibility. At the moment it seemed like a good idea, after getting in the old truck and thirty dollars later, I though

I add the bead to make it easier to locate with the thread scraps laying around. Too many times I went to reach for the loop and it was gone and I had to fumble around while trying to hold the wrap. It just makes it easier for me.

Lanky pipe is a long narrow section of pipe. The picture looks like something I might do. I just don`t know what I would do to cause it to break.
