I bought the large 4 oz. spool of Pro Wrap thread. The way the Pro Wrap plastic spool is designed it does not fit on the carriage of my Renzetti rod building lathe. Before I send the thread back, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and it there is a way to make this fit? Thanks in advance. Rich

One thing I have never figured out is why Perma Gloss has never packaged their product in a container that is user friendly? I mean a guy should not have to go out and buy a can and a screw just to keep his PG in. Why does it not come in a can with a screw if that's the best way to keep and use it? Just thinking out loud.............................. Still thinking.......................

Raymond, I've kept a number of scorpions as pets over the years. Thet can live over a year or two. All they need is small bugs to eat and a water source. I catch the little bark scorpions all the time up in the Latrobe area. I have two nice ones in alcohol right now and they look great. In fact I have a mexican scorpion in a small bottle of Tequila that is over 20 years old and it stills

The rod I am building is well over 10 feet and is limber just as you said Dave. I set it up first as a conventional wrap and quickly saw this was not going to work. Actually it would work but not at the level I was satisfied with. I decided that a spiral wrap was the only way to go. I found it very simple to convert the wrap to a spiral as this is my first spiral wrapped rod. I can't wait to

My rule of thumb is that on saltwater rods such as halibut, marlin, sails etc I always double wrap over an under wrap (size A thread). Curently I am wraping (A thread) a mooching rod for Alaskan salmon (Rainshadow ISA1266F 10 + feet, rated for 12-25 pound test line) and am wondering if I really need to double wrap the guides on this rod. I know salmon are hard hiting but they do not fight lik

I just finished a halibut rod and am building a Dorardo rod right now. I used Gudebrod #9050 HT Metallic - Electric Blue Size on both. I burnished the thread on both without any problems at all. I used a small glass tube (like a test tube) which worked perfectly.

I use multi-coats of Tru-oil when I want a nice polished finish. To make the finish look even better (and I mean much, much better) I rub out the well dried Tru-oil once with Flitz polish. The Flitz gives the finish a very deep, smooth, hand polished look. It truely makes a big difference and makes your finish look professional and expensive. I use this Flitz method on anything I apply Tru-

That's great news Robert! It's a real pleasure to see fishsticks4u grow as fast as it has.. I know your sucess is due to your fine products such as Batson and how well you treat your customers. You provide a service that is unheard of in the large retail chain stores. You've come a long way since I first starting buying from you and I thank you again for all the help you freely gave me wh

I recently was looking for a couple heavy duty rods for very large Alaskan Halibut and for big hard fighting marlin in Cabo and other Mexican waters. I was luckly enough to meet and talk to Karry Batson of Batson Enterprises at the Rod Show in High Point. and he set me up with a well proven set of rods that are perfect for what I was looking for. . I would suggest contacting Karry on the left

I use Spectra or Power Pro too. The only problem I have had with regular thread is that if I make the wrap to tight, the thread breaks when I try and pull it through.

Tom, I'm not sure who Sammy is, but I think we better tell him he needs to win his own book! lol. Actually I'm not sure if I'm really a winner, since I paid almost as much on my name tag as the cost of the book! When I get back home I'll send you a check for the postage. Thanks again for mailing it it back to me.

Tom, Thank you very much! I was sure all I had to do was post my lost on RBO and I would get the book back. I never met such fine, upstanding people in all my life. I guess it says a lot about the type of people who have a passion for building rods. I never thought that when I took up rod building I would meet so many fine and honorable people, as well as make so many new friends here a

For those of you who were at the Rod Expo I need your help please. I won one of Billy's books (the name tag contest ) and I left it on one of the tables near Batsons booth on Sunday around 4PM . The inside of the back page, which is blank, has an inscription written on it from Billy. I'm sure some one picked it up by mistake, since there was so many books sold. I would be more then happy

Wow, I never thought I would hear that temperatures from the upper teens to the low thirties would be considered good weather. Weather like that in California would destroy the state and the Governor would have to declare it a disaster! I guess its all relevant. I once was in Wyoming on a hunting trip when the cold mountain air got all the way up to the low 40's. I saw 2 girls lying out in t

Like I said we never get any major ice out here. We live about 70 miles from South Lake Tahoe and we go up there quite offen, crossing the 7,400 ft summit. It is not uncommon for Tahoe and the high Sierras mountain range to have snow 10-15+ ft high each winter (except this winter, there was no storms during the month of Jan. breaking the record set in 1888) . This is no problem but when there

Thanks for clearing that up. I've been monitoring the High Point weather, but recently I saw on the news photos of ice storms in in the Carolinas. They made it sound like it was a rare occurrence. Since the only traveling we will be doing will be by shuttle or taxi, I won't have to worry about driving on ice. Thanks again and we are looking forward to attending the show, meeting everyon
