I bought the large 4 oz. spool of Pro Wrap thread. The way the Pro Wrap plastic spool is designed it does not fit on the carriage of my Renzetti rod building lathe. Before I send the thread back, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and it there is a way to make this fit? Thanks in advance. Rich

One thing I have never figured out is why Perma Gloss has never packaged their product in a container that is user friendly? I mean a guy should not have to go out and buy a can and a screw just to keep his PG in. Why does it not come in a can with a screw if that's the best way to keep and use it? The rod I am building is well over 10 feet and is limber just as you said Dave. I set it up first as a conventional wrap and quickly saw this was not going to work. Actually it would work but not at the level I was satisfied with. I decided that a spiral wrap was the only way to go. My rule of thumb is that on saltwater rods such as halibut, marlin, sails etc I always double wrap over an under wrap (size A thread). Curently I am wraping (A thread) a mooching rod for Alaskan salmon (Rainshadow ISA1266F 10 + feet, rated for 12-25 pound test line) and am wondering if I really need to double wrap the guides on this rod. I just finished a halibut rod and am building a Dorardo rod right now. I used Gudebrod #9050 HT Metallic - Electric Blue Size on both. I burnished the thread on both without any problems at all. I used a small glass tube (like a test tube) which worked perfectly.

I use multi-coats of Tru-oil when I want a nice polished finish. To make the finish look even better (and I mean much, much better) I rub out the well dried Tru-oil once with Flitz polish.
