Bill, what exactly do you mean by saying you pour it into a cup? Do you mean another bottle or like a coffee cup? Would the bottle it comes in work just as well if kept in the refridgerator? So far I have been afraid to open my bottle and use it until Ifully understand how to keep it fresh and reuseable. I wonder why Permagloss does not redesign its container to make Permagloss much more us

Good question. I bought some beautiful Mylar Tinsel at a fly shop recently with hopes of incorperating it into a some type of a different looking inlay. I too am very interested in any information about working and inlaying this material. Thanks in advance!

I have a Mag Bass rod I built that I fish when ever I need to get big fish landed as fast as possible to keep them from getting wrapped up in roots, heavy reeds or weeds. I love the sensitivity of the faster taper and the power of the Mag Butt . The powerful butt and backbone helps in setting the larger style off set worm hooks nice and deep. It also has the power needed to stop a big

So far the best thing I have found, like Bob T. said, is wrapping the lure with a strip of velcro wrapped back around onto itself. It especially works well for larger, multi- hooked sets on bass lures.

I have tried everything and the best tool I have found by far is a cuticle tool I found at Walgreens and Walmart for about 50 cents. It has a white plastic handle and a pink rubber top that looks like a little horse hoof. I think it is used to push cuticles back and the angle of the rubber makes it perfect for moving and packing the thread together. Most of all, it does not damage the thread

I get all my Rainshadow blanks from fishstick4u, one of RBOsponsors. I have found the Rainshadow blanks to be as good as Loomis but a lot cheaper.

I know you are inquiring about using Permagloss, but I just thought I'd share my experience with using Flexcoat on my lures. I have a number of basswood and plastic bodied plugs I made well over ten years ago. I used my airbush to paint the bodies and then applied one coat of FC over the paint job. I've been very happy with how well the FC has remained nice and clear with no signs of yellowing

I was fishing today and noticed line noise too. What I noticed was the louder the line noise, the bigger the fish on the other end. Tell your customer its a fish alarm system.................no extra charge!

Thanks Emory. Offering your home is very nice of you. Last April I ran out of time trying to schedule it in so it was not a money issue. I plan on making it next April and I am very much looking forward to it. I've always been a big fan of Lamiglas and would love to see their operation. In regards to a road trip, I'm more of a airplane kind of a guy, but by April who know, I just might be up to

Thank you Terry for the very kind and thoughtful words. One thing I did not mention about the afternoon we met Terry and his wife, at the end of our visit ,Terry gave me one of his exotic inlayed rods. I never expected to ever own one of Terry Henson's rods and I will cherish it the rest of my life but I will cherish Terry's friendship even more.

Cliff, Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to mention Robert at fishsticks4u. Robert was one of the first people I met on RHO. Robert took me under his wing and helped me get started in rod building. Even though my orders are small compared to others, Robert has always treated me as if I was one of his biggest accounts. He's a true gentleman, a man of his word, and I look forward to meeting

I was reading the post from Paul Rotkis regarding what could be done to help Tom pay the bills for this wonderful site. It got me to thinking how RBO has had such a positive influence in my life that I thought I'd share it. I know this won't help Tom pay the bills but I hope it shows him how much this site is appreciated by me and so many who love to build rods. I had decided to tak

Derek, Thanks for your question. I really like the natural beauity of Abalone and have the same interest as you in using it some how in rod building. In fact just I went over to my buddy's house the other day and got more shells to experiment with. What I did not know was how dangerous it is to inhale the dust, so thanks for saving my lungs. Sounds like for rod building buying it in sheets

Hey Cliff! I thought I was the only one who reads RBO late at night under the covers! Every time my wife stirs in her sleep, I have to slam the lid down on my laptop and play like I'm sleeping. She has to get up early to go to work (I'm retired) so she thinks her sleep is more important then me reading RBO. I could see it if I was looking at porn, but this site is important and educational!

Daniel, Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your finish and fish eyes....................but on the other hand its good to hear you are well and back building rods. I always enjoy seeing your work when you post it. I think high humidity could possibly be a factor. I know when I was a spray painter, I always has problems with fish eyes in my clear coat lacquer when the humidi

It took me for ever to find it in the Sacramento area. Walmart, Michaels, Lowes, Home Depot, Orchard just to name a few were all a bust. Recently I finally found it at Ace hardware and Harbor Freight (www.harborfreight.com).

I've bought several very nice Batson UL's spinning rods from fishsticks4u. I just built one of them and am very happy with the it came out. I just love the way it casts and it will be a great trout rod. I don't have the specs on the blank in front of me right now, but if you want more info please free to e-mail me.

ThanksSteve. This was my first fish decal. I applied it over the first coat of epoxy after it cured for 24 hours. I never thought about putting CP on it even though I had just applided it to the thread on both sides of the decal. I burnished it very well like Putter suggested and applied the Threadmaster over it. It came out perfect and I only destroyed two decals before I decided to go to th
