im wondering why would the spots be white when my rags are blue?

yes i have tried different types of towels. currently i am using blue heavy duty disposable shop towels, but i've used cotton ones before and got the same results. the shop towels seem to work the best.

i exclusively use the AMTAC black matrix blanks on all of my rods because 1) the price is right, and 2) customers DIG the look. here's my questions. when i wipe any sort of epoxy off of the blank with alcohol, little white specs form on the finish. i can't wipe these specs off, but i can get them off with my fingernail. obviously the alcohol is having some effect on the blank's finish. what

i have not received 11.3 either. should i have already received this?

i understand where you are coming from. i build my rods in my off time (which is usually 5pm-2am). i've got 9 to finish by sunday, except i can dry 5 at a time. when i move my shop later this year i plan on increasing to 12 dryers.

maybe it wasnt packed as tight as you thought??? epoxy finish won't cause the threads to separate if that is what you are asking

i was experimenting with some ramps today and i was thinking to myself, "there must be some type of epoxy i can buy at lowes for cheaper than rodbuilding epoxies." let us know how it turned out.

73. dissapointed
i'm becoming more and more disappointed with the options (or lack thereof) of winding checks. you would think by now some company would start producing a large array of decorative winding checks. all there is to choose from right now is:
1. simple rubber ones
2. knurled aluminum ones
3. expensive matagi checks with hit and miss availability
4. very expensive arcane checks on mudhole
5.

set up a sole proprietorship. only costs me 50 bucks here in louisiana. at least you know you will be safe if you ever get audited.
there's no reason to set up a corporation or LLC unless you are a large company with employees. that is overkill

77. set your DVR's
Tuesday morning at 11:30, there will be an episode of "how do they do that" on discovery channel that will feature the construction of fishing rods. not sure which company they are profiling, but it should be fun for us as builders to watch.
*the show is tuesday, not wednesday. i originally posted that it will air on wednesday. sorry for the mistake.

scott, the best way to figure out what your customer needs is talk to them for five minutes. you'll learn everything you need to know. sorry if that didn't answer your question

i never purchased the spatulas, but i assumed they were for applying adhesives, not finish. i could be wrong though.

tom, i think you're mostly right here. but with saltwater aluminum reel seats, your hand never grips the seat while fishing.

i wont suggest a certain brand, but i will say that if this is going to be a duel purpose rod, go with a mod fast action. a fast action is too stiff for specks

sorry john if we misunderstood. but when you say "trolling rod," usually that means a bent butt rod. i've been fishing offshore for a long time, and have never seen a straight butted rod used for pulling lines. if you are trolling with straight butt rods, be sure to use flat line clips on your rods that do not run through the riggers. otherwise it will affect the lures' depth, and i
