This power rod and the one lighter, the 6 - 12 lb., 1/8 to 3/8 oz. lures were probably the most popular blanks we used in the late 80's, early 90's casting rods we were building for the small bass lures that came out back then, little crankbait copies of the larger popular baits of the time, 1/8 oz. spinnerbaits, finesse worms and other soft baits, etc. I see no reason to think with the much bett

I'm not concerned with strength; they said it would take 58 lbs. of load, if you had a standup rod, no harness and no rail that is drag your butt over the side pressures.

All the similar styled guides, no matter where you find them can be used for both purposes.

Guess I don't understand the concept unless you buy a short blank and make up the length difference with the XO skeleton system.

U-40 Thread Lock does, not Flexcoat.

I believe that is a Lightning Rod, I had one of that power given to me by a friend close to 40 years ago. It was nothing special, I have no doubt an IM6 blank sold by a bunch of dealers to the left would match that rod's characteristics. I wouldn't have thrown 5/8 oz. lures, it was what you would consider an upper powered trout rod, threw 1/6 oz. Kastmaster spoons excellent in a reservoir I fishe

I would look at the REVS68MXF-SB for the same purposes as the Immortal.

We know nothing about your location, what species, etc. You'll see few Med. Hvy rods that will throw 1/8 oz. effectively.

Don't know how dryer speed makes the finish level faster since you can get a beautiful job just 180 turning the rod by hand every minute or so, than even less as it sets up. I'd choose function over bling everytime, the Flexcoat people have the experience to build it right, just look at the wheel overlap on their wrapper and the simplicity of design.

The shorter rod would be a bit less tiring to hold all day I would think.

X2 with Kevin, also that slotted board behind the motor has room for tool/supply storage if you buy the accessories that work on those slotted board panels you can install in your shop or garage.

Personally, I would look at the Hybrid Delta CB706, A tight line presentation ensures you will have no sensitivity problem. If I knew more about the heavier Iconglass blanks I would have no problem using one of those either, this is not something you need a MB blank for.

Spent 60 years+ with longer, heavier and never a balanced rod in my hands and have done just fine. I personally wouldn't even think about it till I knew I had absolutely nothing I could do to reduce weight everywhere else. I have seen way to many rods with weighted butts, and a guide system on them from the 80's.

I bought my Lamson Litespeeds for $200 30 years ago, look what they cost now. Same with whatever other fly reel you want to mention. They changed their look but little else.

I've used my G Loomis SJR 700 IM6 for most of what you were doing for close to 40 years, NFC 5100-1 (IM) is the same thing, others have extended the blank to 6 1/2 ft. for kayak fishing and other purposes, but I have made your casts all day as is, it has a bunch more backbone than people realize. It also makes a nice deep water crappie rod. I haven't built any of the longer 0 power SB blanks to s

NFC said they were not fast boomers, they make the saltwater series sticks for that. The specs look very much like the early IMX blank specs.

My stepdad's very old Fenwick FS 83S had the old wire double foots spinning guides and a ceramic tip top, G Loomis and many others went from an REC tip top to a ceramic one only one year after they introduced the guides to the public. Same with the high-end Cabela's rods back then.

The MB 662 Delta is a closer fit to what you are looking for I think. The small trebles on the Mepps spinners would be more up it's alley, you could always stretch them 3 inches easily.

I don't know about you guys, but I expect a lot more out of my travel rods, after all my arsenal is pretty restricted when I need a travel rod, I would want to know how much dead bait and trolling weight it would carry, that means the ratings would not be the same as a one piece bass rod would normally show in the catalog.

X Fast helps throw lighter offerings off the tip than a like powered moderate or fast blank would effectively, I don't see how that lighter tip would increase hooksets, the illustrations we have all seen I don't believe display rod bend under like powers and load.

Flipping, I wouldn't think would generate much chance for noise from the REC guides, and it really isn't a big deal even when you are actually casting line through the guides.

Your pretty restricted in choices with REC guides, on double foot they stop at a 6, on single foot they stop at a 4 start at a 5. If you use a fluor leader, not knowing line size and knot, I certainly will not go under a 5.
