Roque P 705-2, 8 - 17 lb. line, 1/4 to 5/8 oz. lures, 5 tip, .495" butt, XF action. I've cast less than 1/4 oz. with it, the tip is lighter and faster than my other like powered popping rods, a Loomis P844 GLX 4 power and Lamiglas IM700 IMP 844, 4 power., butt power about the same on all, the Lamiglas is rated 3/8 - 3/4 oz. Unhide your email and I can send you a copy of the Rogue catalog,

There are bronze colored fly guides around, but the matching stripper could be an extended search.

I have two Rogue blanks left that are two piece popping blanks with extra fast, soft tips. 4 power rated can look up specs if you are interested.

Spiral wraps are perfect for 4 piece rods and a huge amount of float rods over the years were built on 4 piece spey blanks. I would be more concerned about a guides on top rod 4 piece rod. My 4 piece, salmon rods are all spiral wrapped, they produce a no torque, stable platform a guides on top rod can never give you. If alignment is your concern, just put alignment indicators on the blank like m

Is it a glass blank? 0.8+" butt, 7 tip, 1/8" butt wall thickness.

My favorite guides are Snake brand universal guides, if you are concerned about aesthetics, they also sell matching ceramics. I have never had a guide from them that wasn't perfect and ready to wrap. Ron Weber at Southwest Custom Rods for a Lemke seat and an expanded selection of inserts including acrylics. My favorite production cork grips are no longer available, if you want to go new school, t

We were still using cork life rafts made in WW II when our ships I was on were built in the 80's. The only thing we replaced was the cloth bottom and strapping from time to time.

So, the information found on the US site about 3 and 4 guide setups in different rod weights isn't what you wanted? You wanted a specific chart?

Are they a different guide than we have in the US? Anglers Rsrc-Fuji is to the left if it helps.

I use a Rainshadow XB 944.5-TC for that, it would be an IMMC blank now, Schneider's has some at a real good price in their Hot Specials section. They punch well above the rating shown.

John, You bass anglers aren't the only cowboys in the rodeo, but you seem to think other forms of angling somehow have it easier, multi-day angling is the norm for anyone who travels to fish, in Alaska the sun never sets on some of us.

3-4 years ago, I played with and casted the 8 wt. 2 and 4 piece Prime rods, the 2 & 4 pc. had Ti/Sic ceramics, but only the 2 pc. had REC guides, the 4 pc. were SS guides. Both had a very nice and light swing weight, lighter than most I have played with lately.

If weight is your only concern, you are going to miss a lot in rod building.

Willing to bet that split grip is a preformed tube that slips on, an epoxy taper would be to time intensive for rod production.

Can you buy a skeleton you like and then have someone like Ron Weber cut you an insert?

It will work, BUT you don't want to breath any of the end results, mask up with a very good mask and eye protection.

Since it's a medium strength tip top, attached by the tube and a wrap to the rod, it would seem reasonable it may not need welded. It would take a bunch of of load that the tip will never see to move those braces. Are the HN series welded? After taking a peek, it looks like the HN tips also are not welded.

I built a saltwater rod in 1985 for jigging wrecks and reefs in Florida, having no real experience with what the rod should have I went with what I knew and what I wanted the rod to be, thinking if I was off the mark, I could always rebuild it when it failed, thing is it never failed, no matter what line/weight/ top shot combo I put through it or the size fish tied to the other end. My final Pac

Rebrod was reversed by the owner to Dorber some years ago, the site was Dorber.com. Heard more about the company on fly rod sites over the last 20 years.

If you space the guides further out than you are just going back to the older concepts, the GPS system is supposed to reduce the big guide's mass and place them further back on the rod for better balance and leave the rest of the rod to light, small, line flow controlling guides. Before you do though, take that reel and line and put it on your lightest powered casting rod and go test cast it, you

I use the 17 mm version so I can use the same grips that I use for my trigger seats no matter the material or type.

I'm also an advocate for blanks like Richard B., I have one built and a blank in the rack that may someday be built. Awesome blank for fishing the smaller coastal rivers and tributaries for sea run cutthroat, steelhead and coho where the length isn't a hindrance to getting a good drift and the dark forest green is a pretty color. The lower modulus blank is in no way a hinderance and works well in

Repairing a rod and quick turnaround never has gone hand in hand unless you have some kind of expedited service you can purchase, and I have never used one, so I don't know how fast they are. My 6 wt. GLX 4 piece had a broke tip after having family in the house for an extended visit, pulled it out of the tube and sock and surprise! It took over 3 months to be fixed and I delivered and picked it u
