Tom said in another post that they have one planned on the west coast next year. Doesn't help you now though.

I used the non-skid surface tape that you can buy at your local home improvement store. Comes in 1" width. Its peel and stick also. I just cut off about a 1' piece and cut it in !/2" strips with an old pair of scissors. Works great, plenty coarse enough.

1353. Re: ideal drying speed
I got mine off @#$%& for like 14 dollars. It's a 12 RPM and it's perfect for applying finish and drying. I just wish it had an on/off switch. I'm going to put an inline switch in I think. Oh, it's also got a clutch that when you stop it by hand it changes direction.

1354. Re: heat/air guns
I got a regular craft heater. It gets plenty hot, doesn't blow as hard as a blow dryer. 20 bucks at AC Moore. That's out craft house here in Clarksburg, WV, but I'm sure you can get them at Michaels or other craft houses. Ken Preston uses one just like it in his video.

1356. Re: Is it worth it?
Phil,
I'm pretty much a newbie here also, but I've learned a ton from this board ( thanks Tom). I don't know if you've read any of my post's, I'll spare the details, but I have no income right now (disabled). I can't afford to buy new blanks, so I'm practicing by stripping old blanks that I've had laying around for years. Thanks to the gracious people on this board, who donated supplies, I

1357. Re: Hand Rod Wrappers
Take a look on the picture pages under equipment. There are tons of wrappers that folks have built themselves. That's what I did and I've only got @ $15 in my wrapper. I built it out of scrap wood I had, and some other hardware that was laying around. Just look at the pics and take the features you like and build your own. If you look in the library section above, I think there are even plan

1358. Re: paint
I just did a light action solid fiberglass rod, for my wife, in the Purple / Green. Turned out great. It does add a little weight, with the base, color and clear. As Larry said above, the base is black, so if you had a black rod, that would cut out a coat of paint. I don't have a digital camera, so I can't take pictures and post.

1359. Re: Butt wrap design
Jim,
Don't doubt your word a bit, pretty good choices. The part about the kit was just an afterthought. I've seen them at some craft stores and WalMart too.

I think Jim just said pretty much what I was going to say. Testors has a kit with all 4 camo colors in it.

Steve,
Get Ken Preston's DVD. He SHOWS you how to do it and it's very easy. If you're like me, you learn way better seeing than reading.

Ken,
What does DVD #2 cover? You don't know how much #1 has helped me, cleared up a lot of questions I had. I've went back and watched several parts of it 3-4 times.

Ray,
Looks like you and I are doing pretty close to the same thing. Where did you get your keeps. I've done search's on most of the sponsors, but no holo keeps. I'm building a light action rod for my wife. I've painted the blank with Purple / Green color change paint. Looks really sweet. I'm going to wrap the AMTAK blue frame / holo ring guides. Purple and Pearl with some green trim. I

OK fellows,
Can someone please clarify why they told me to stay away from Rayon? There are a lot of nice colors I'd like to try in rayon, but I'm afraid to.

I asked the same question about 2 months ago. I was told to stay away from Rayon, I don't know why it wasn't explained. Also was advised to make sure the thread doesn't have lubricants, (epoxy fisheyes). I was told in an email from one of the thread companies that size A rodbuilding thread was equivilant to a size 23 embroidery thread.

If that's your motto, then look in the photo section under equipment. Look at some of the fine examples in there and save yourself some money and build your own. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. There is also a article in the library about building your own. That's what I did and it works great. Welcome!!! and have fun!!!

Well Tom,
I agree, to point. If you have the $10 to spend on it that's fine. I don't, I'm sure you've read my past posts and know my situation. Ten dollars doesn't seem like a lot of money or even two dollars for that matter. But when you don't have 2 nickles to rub together, it might as well be a million. It's just like the guy who thought I was out of line asking if someone had a spare sp

(IMO) The oly ones who will complain are the ones who were posting the pics to begin with. I believe they have the right to view filth, but they shouldn't be infringing on everyone else's rights when they do it. It just like religeon, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

pour yor epoxy onto a plate covered with aluminum foil (shiny side up), blow your breath (with your mouth open, no pursed lips), onto the epoxy. You'll see the bubbles come to the top and pop right before you eye's. Works very well for me. Ypu can also use a blow hair dryer, but don't get it too close or you'll boil the epoxy and it won't set up.

Someone (I think Billy V.) had said that if you cuntacted the company, they would send you a sample. I emailed them, and they emailed me back saying that they no longer provided samples. Any way of getting some, I'd like to try before I buy. I don't have money to waste on something I'm not going to like? I'm sure others will agree.

Putter,
Just picture everyone in their under drawers. On second thought, that may not be such a good idea. If there are several "hotties" there it could tend to be a major distraction!!!

1377. Re: Sulky Thread ????
Thanks Guy's,
The two spools of Gudebrod metallic I used, I didn't like much. The metalized part tended to strip off while tying off. I'm gonna try this Sulky, it can't be any worse, Right!!!
