Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for a longer blank. I would be using the rod in the same river where I go steelheading but in the summer months when the water is quite low. I am usually still swinging spinners and using the odd float so I thought either a lighter flyrod blank or this one would fit the bill. Any other opinions?

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has built a rod on this blank? I am looking for a light action trout+smallmouth rod for smaller streams and this one looks promising. Any feedback in terms of action would be appreciated.
thanks,
Tom.

Thank you for all the replies. I tried some stripper on a broken rod tip and it didn't do much. I will stick to a razor blade and sandpaper.

Just curious, does anyone know if you can use paint stripper to clean the old glue off a blank when rebuilding a rod? It doesn't hurt wood or glass but do you think it will eat the graphite? Any opinions would be welcome.
thanks,
Tom

Hello all. I am putting together a 8'6" four weight and was hoping to get some recommendations regarding guide size selection. What type of guide sequence do you typically use in terms of alconite and TiCH single foot guides?
thanks,
Tom

Hello all. I have a question. A friend asked me to build him a 6 weight fly rod for smallmouth bass. He has tried my 6 weight, medium-fast blank but wants more "punch". I have looked over various 8'6" and 9 foot blanks and was curious if rod length makes a difference with casting performance? All things being equal, does six inches make a difference if the primary use for the rod i

Hello all.
I am looking for a reasonably priced spinning rod blank, 6-12 pound test range with a fast action blank, 6"6-7 in length for river smallmouth. In a perfect world it would light weight with a sensitve tip. Any suggestions on where to stard looking?
thanks.

I am looking for a 7 or 8 weight, 9"6-10" length blank for steelhead, something reasonably priced and hopefully rather lightweight. I'm not really sure where to start looking since there are quite a few choices out there. I was curious as to what are your favorites and why?
thanks, Tom.

Thanks for all the input. I am used to longer steelhead rods for float fishing and bottom bouncing so a ten foot rod actually seems on the short side. Anyway, thanks again.

Hello all. I was curious about how the length of a fly rod affects performance. I was considering building either a 9, 9"6 or 10 foot seven weight for steelhead fishing but wanted to know if rod length would make a huge difference in casting or line control since these lengths are quite close. Any opinions would be appreciated.
thanks,
Tom.
