Tim,
Syringes only coat about $1.00 per pair. I'd say get a seperate set to avoid contamination.

That sounds pretty normal. The Lite is not tack free until about 8 hours. A safe rule of thumb is to take the High Build attributes and double them.
HB Potlife: 25 Min
Lite Potlife: 1hour
HB Gel Time: 1.5 hours
Lite Gel Time: 3 Hours
HB Tack Free: 4 Hours
Lite Tack Free: 8 Hours

Same as all other epoxies....flat caps. Syringes and Yorkers are available seperately. We used to suppply them w//yorkers instead of flat caps, but everyone hated the yorkers except for about 1/2% of the builders out there. The only place people REALLY like the Yorkers is in Europe for whatever reason.
Tim,
I am still confused as to what you're asking. You say the epoxy has been

Tim,
I am not quite sure what you're asking, but yes, the potlife on the Lite is about 1 hour (maybe a tad more) as opposed to 25min. on the High build. You should not be using the same syringes as the PartA Resin is not the same....the hardener is the same though.

Yes, it uses mercaptin as the curing agent...so the hardener does smell a bit. BUT the resin actually smells nice and sweet, so the two sort of cancel each other out.

Where are you looking? All of my distributors.....Bingham Ent. Angler's Workshp and FishSticks all sell my mandrels to individual RodBuilders who do not have business liscense, and all are sponsors here.

Mo,
Are you aware of what Texalium actually is? It's Fiberglass with an aluminum coating...aluminized fiberglass....very heavy. My material with a Kevlar or Kevlar/Carbon blend is much lighter than cork. I'll post numbers as they become available.

You can leave them "textured" from the weave of the material OR you can build up a finish to make it smooth....I am with you, I prefer the texture. The additional coating adds weight, but not thta much. Ideally you're looking for a 60/40 or 50/50 ratio of resin to material, but to get that accurate requires a more refined process lik vacum bagging, SCRIMP or other more controlled means

Hi Emory,
I Don't know yet about the sensitivity, so I won't make any claims on that subject, but it is lighter than cork, even the fiberglass/carbon blend is lighter than cork. I know a few guys who have applied similiar surface treatments to cork, but to me all that does is make the cork less efficient than it already is. Cork is a really good material for rod grips, but ad

Hey guys,
I just posted some pics in the grip/handle photo gallery of some new grips we'll be offering this fall. It's a special layup utilizing Carbon Fiber, FiberGlass or Kevlar (or a combination thereof) over a unique core material that not only allows the composite to conform to compound shapes and curves, but actually can lighten the grip up to 30% over standard cork grips. Additional

Stan,
Our products contain no solvents whatsoever...instead we use what are called reactive diluents to thin the viscosity, which actually become part of the cured resin instead of evaporating back out like a solvent. The advantages are many...no flammability, no shrinkage, no chance of uncured trapped solvent, etc...the downside is that the diluents prolong the cure rate. When we develo

No such thing as a "bad batch"....if it was bad batch, many hundreds of others would be having this problem as well. The Lite formula overall takes longer to gel, longer to set up and longer to cure, because of the diluents in it....just the way it is.

Billy,
When you can, try the new TM Lite formula. It's alot like Aftcote in terms of viscosity and is somewhat more flexable than the TM High Build.

Ultimate Slow Cure has some added wetting agents in it that help in gluing odd surfaces like anodized aluminum, glass, concrete, galvanized steel, polyethylene etc...I don't know how it would do on rubber, but if any of the readily available rodbuilding epoxies would be the optimum, this would be the one.

No....it's absolutely flexable....all of our products retain flexabilty when cured. They have to or they would crack. The slow cure epoxy was actually designed for the aircraft industry which obviously requires some flexability on parts adhered with a resin.

Scott,
The difference between the Lite and the High Build is that the Lite has a longer potlife, and the thinner viscosity lends itself to certain peoples application technique better than the High Build. Some folks just prefer to use a multicoat aplication rather than a single coat application...nothing better or worse about it, just personal tastes. Additionally, the Lite is virtu

ThreadMaster High Build will cure hard enough to fish as little as 24-48 hours after application depending o temperature. The Lite version with it's longer potlife and slightly slower cure requires about 48-72 hours depending on temperature.
Fingernail tests do little to tell you the state of the cure within the first several days. Some polymer systems just do not cur

Yelow is absolutely the worst. When we test new CP formulas it's always on Goldenrod thread against a solid blank blank. That's the true acid test as to whether a CP is any good or not.

Thomas,
We have invested a TON of time and money researching the "how's and why's" of color preserver. Needless to say we have learned alot about why certain chemistries work, and why some don't. For example, there is very definately an optimum range of solids content that elicits the best results. Additionally there other characteristics within the chemistry that will

Unless you're building Ice Rods or UL spin rods, or 0/1/2wt. flyrods, I doub't you'll ever have a need for a 1/4" mandrel for turning cork. It's a pretty specialized size, and most everyone goes to the 5/16" as the minimum size.

Snake Brand Guides are probably the most consistent snakes I have ever used in terms of their foot length and shape....just beautiful workmanship and perfect shape and length from guide to guide. Additionally they only require a very slight bit of prep for wrapping. However they are only good for freshwater applications. The chrome plating is just not heavy enough for the salt.

As Spencer stated, we can do ANY and ALLof the CTS spin/casting blanks in a 2pc. or 3pc. construction. We have actually done many models very similair and many somewhat heavier than you request for Bonefish/Permit anglers as well asTarpon anglers fishing with spinning gear...also done quite a few 3pc.blanks for the Peacock Bass Anglers traveling to South America.

Just so you guys are aware, NOT all CP is acrylic. At least 2 on the market at the moment are water based Urethanes or Urethane Acrylic blends. I have been working with 2 seperate chemists for 3 years researching CP chemistry, and we have actually developed CP's not only from Acrylic, and various Acrylic Co-Polymers, but also from various water based aliphatic urethanes, Uretha
