I want to ship 3 or 4 rods from New York to Florida. I've never done this before, but I've heard horror stories. Can anybody tell me the best way to ship; pvc with caps, what grade or cardboard rug cylinder? Also, is Fed Ex better than UPS or what? What about insurance? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I bought three BT 20 Seeker blanks last year froma tackle shop that closed. The specs on the blank are length 7'8", Tip 10, butt 870. My problem is that the specs in the catalog are length 7', tip 10, and butt 850. I can't figure out if this was a mistake, or if I should cut 8" off the butt. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the info; it is greatly appreciated. I picked up about 50 blanks at an old rodbuilders shop and there were a few that I didn't have the specs on. I still have a few more to check into.

Billy,
I use the Bill Marchisella EVA cutting tool to make straight cuts in Eva and cork. I sent you one, but as far as I know, you never used it. I also use a Japanese pull saw for angles, but the wire in my Eva cutting tool cuts the smoothest.

Maury,
No, I haven't done any business with x-generationfishing.com in Lantana; never knew they existed until now. I generally deal with Mud Hole, Merrick Tackle and Acid Rod. I have not done any rod building in Florida as yet, but I plan to this time around.

Michael, there is no twist.
Russell wants me to treat it as hazardous waste; Don wants to give me $1. per spool at which I would break even, lol. Then there's Ron who wants me to send it to him for an appraisal.
I did leave 10 spools of white behind.
Ray, it was good luck, but it was like walking into the past. There were so many items from the 50's and 60's.
I'm posting a photo of the t

237. Re: old rod blanks
Roger,
For some reason I thought you could not use CCS on larger blanks. When I walked into this shop it was like I went back in time. He had stuff from the '40's and '50's, so I am thinking these are older models. I'll have to read up on CCS as I have never done this before.
Thanks for the info.
