I agree 100% with Spencer... Why? 10 footers can manage more line better. They pick up more line and roll more line better than a 9 footer... Paul

MIKE: WOW...I looked at the link and about fell off my chair...I will just say one last thing about NFC pricing..."Unreal. I will never be buying any unless I win the lottery." And yes, of course if we don't like the prices, we wont buy them-thanks for pointing out the obvious. But I think that this great websight is here for just this purpose; aside from many others. But we are

TOM: I agree and well put. I apologize to all. But that's why I said it had to be a misprint. JOHN S: Your statement is quite the opposite sir. But if the blanks are priced beyond the moon, then your right, no one will buy the blanks...very simple math and reasoning. Paul

565.00 FOR A BLANK? YOU GOTTA HAVE ROCKS IN YOUR HEAD TO PAY THAT FOR A 8'6" FOOT 20# BLANK! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! That has to be a mis-print! That blank better be feeding 20 familes dinner table...the writing is on the wall for failure with prices like that... I AM SHOCKED WITH DISBELIEF! There isn't ANYTHING that anyone at NFC can say or do to justify that ridiculous price for a sti

Actually, it's not an analogy. There are no similarities. One scenario the rod is purchased, and the other scenario the blank is free. And if it were a Rainshadow over seas blank as compared to a St Croix SCV....The rainshadow everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. SCV's are clubs IMHO. And I'm not trying to be argumentative; honestly. Ok, I'm done! Now load up with all the shots

PHIL: Well of course advertising serves a purpose; but thanks for the clarification. And yes, like most things in life, it is just a matter of opinion. You could give two people the same information about an issue and they could come up with two different opinions... However, advertising is an industry- A HUGE INDUSTRY, an industry that I have many wealthy friends in. Wether that is good o

PHIL: Advertising is all of what you said. It's just that the there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many folks on the payroll. And yes, there are many deceptions, non-truths, and embellishing in advertisments. If you believe all advertising, then I have some great desert land here in Alaska to sell you and all. And if there was a 50% reduction in the big makers advertisments, w

JIM GAMBLE: YOUR QUOTE: "IF the difference, let's say 10-20%, is going to "make or break" the sale ... I submit that you aren't serving a true custom rod client, you simply fabricated a sale. Simply put, a sale based on $$$ isn't going to serve your long term business interests as a craftsman - that type of buyer won't be around in 5-6 years. Instead, they will have moved on

IMO, the big two fly rod companies, Sage and Loomis, are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over priced! Period. Look at how stinkin many advertisments they have in so many magazines!!!!! How do you think they pay for those costly adds? With $500-700 factory fly rods with crooked guides, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much thread finish, and blanks that resemble boomerangs. And o

30# braid with no 17#mono leader of such? I will promise you that rod will break within a week if not sooner. I cannot imagine how many broken Kenai Specials I have seen in my life. IMHO, use mono. "Use braid and it will grenade" was our moto.... But yes, Lou hit a GRANDSLAM with this rod blank! It is near perfect for everything here in AK.

Since I live here in AK, I would have your client pack a 8 1/2 or 9 foot rod, 10-17# line rating, and fast action. Usually reds (Sockeyes) and silvers (Coho's) don't run at the same time FYI. but thats ok, cause this rod will be great for both species. Whatever he's fishing with (Spoons, spinners, eggs.) is irrelevent here in AK this rod will be very adequate. Here's my take after 30+ yea

Better than my and I'm jealous... I have no idea what the previous guys are talkjing about....i don't believe ANY handwriting can compare to a properly applied Decal Connecttion decal...period. So drop the pens and go with clean-professional looking decals... Just have to be honest with ya and pick option "A". And respectfully, Paul

Terry... Another good read to add onto Tom's is FLYFISING FOR DUMMIES. You know, it's those yelow and black books-I used to recommend the book to all of my flyfishing school students. Very cut to the chase book with excellent explanations and diagrams. There is no "normal" lenght or weight of a fly rod. Its about matching the right tool (rod length and weight) for the right

I'm gonna go against my two fellow legendary float fishers.... I would use single foot guides like previsouly mentioned, but I like 20-12-8-6-6-6-6-6-6-6. I love this set up....But guide height may vary! and of course, JANNS netcraft FLEXLITES guides with the TiCh finish are second to none for ice build-up. Flexlite guides size for size, freeze up about 70% less! I Paul

Decals look far more professional and cleaner in my opinion...I've seen the most crisp handwriting, and a decal connection decal applied in the correct manner far exceeds MOST handwriting. Just my .02

Putting 15 guides on a 9 foot flyrod is as ridiculous as placing 25 on it. More guides=more thread=more epoxy=MORE WEIGHT. More weight is bad....very bad! I see no benefit of casting a sum total of 250' more each year or the relevance of (1) more inch. I'm trying to understand the point...If off-set guides are such a selling point, have the individual turn the rod slighlty towards the lin
