Bernie is one of the OLD TIME Rodcrafter guys. So many of them come to the expo each year it could be good to have them all get together. I had heard that Joy Dunlap was there last year but did not see him. Has Dale said he would come?? I look forward to the new issue when the mailman gets done with it..

Joy Dunlap in Destin Fl was the first person I saw use a single 90 transition style spiral wrap. It does good but on heavier rods that guide can twist out of place. This would be worse when used with a single foot guide. For that reason the simple spiral might be a better choice on a rod that you think will have a lot of pressure put on it beause there is no load on the 90 degree guide. It may no

I was not agreeing with it just putting it out there for others to see. One guy even has a spinning reel with a 6.5" spool diameter!!

127. Dumb??
Is this Dumb or what?? I did not write it!! The 27X thing has taken on a life of its own. I'm pretty sure I know where it started and I will tell you that I saw a post, some months ago (not on this BBS) where someone had done the math and came up with the fact that on a 7-ft rod, if he used this formula, he ended up with the first guide five feet up the rod - all the guides would have to fit i

Loojking at the sites that show them and those types of fishing I see that they are not called micro guides in other place. Just guides. What is regular and normal for many other fishermen can seem different to USA fishermen.

I would not trust a group to write such a history. A few years ago one gruop named the LEGENDS of rod buidlng and it ended up with them all being members of that same group. How likely is that?? That only members of a certain group were the rod building hobbies only legends? Not much credibility there IMO. So if you were not part of that group you would not be part of what they consider rod biui

For starters, one is two inches longer than the other. One is a 0 power and one is a 1 power but that is not always consistent from one company to another. But looks to me like the Batson is longer and little more powerful..

The photo page for this sight says there are 8458 photos posted there. Is this the total number that exist there NOW or just how many have been put up in TOTAL over the entire time? How do you access all the photos??

HOw did sawdust get in the bottles?? If you have it in there you can strain it through some womens pantyhouse into another bottle and get the sawdust out. But it will take a long time to pass through the hose.

WEll the picture is not doctored in any way. That is what it looks like, Very dark. I used a white piece of typing paper for the background. It is white and not off color in the picture so you know the rest of the colors in the picture are true. Maybe the finish is bad after all.

Bought a new kit of Threadmaster in Feb. at the Expo. It was clear when I bought it. Now the Part B has turned VERY dark. OK to use?? I thought this product stayed clear?

Keep in mind that many people down here catch tarpon bigger than that on fly rods with snake guides. So rollers do not have to be used..

I am curious to know if ALL factory rods are wrapped on motorized wrappers or do they hand wrap? Also what wrappers do they use? Are these available for sale or do they make their own. I figured somebody here would have been to a factory and seen it done in person.

Good info Carlos. My arm when held that way is twenty inches to the tip of my longest finger. Add ten more gets me thrity and since the reel seat is four if I were to add back one half of that it would put me with a butt guide located 32" from the butt back to exactly what Tom said.

On a longer rod that would put the stripper WAY out there!! I think reel size matters more than rod length. The line does not know how long the rod is but knows the distance from reel to stripper?
