Thank you for your reply, Bill. I'm planning to go there but, frankly speaking, I don't know if it will be possible. I live in Spain and Charlotte takes a little far from here...

After reading RodMarker's article many times in the last months, I finally ordered one of these kits to Donjer. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I've always had problems for cleaning synthetic grips after installing them. I mean to remove excess of epoxy. I think it will be still more difficult with flocked grips. Any advice for the installation process and/or for cleaning epoxy spots? Thank!

Thank you for you replies. Matt, the point is that I can imagine that a 10 ft blankwith a butt diameter of 0.603in and a tip 7.5 size (for example a Lamiglass GSH 126 2MH) must be like an spaghetti, with a very slow action. It's under the "Graphite Steelhead, Salmon and Saltwater spinning". As Scott wrote, spinning rod I'm looking for has to have a fast action. Of course, specifi

Dear friends, It's already one year I begun building rods and I'm more hooked everyday. Of course, I'm still a beginer and there is a question I want to make since I begun. There some blank families I cannot identify, as the ones I mentioned in te tittle (Steelhead/Musky/Salmon/Walleye). I think these are names of different kind of freshwater fishes but... could anyone make a short summary

Dear friends, I'd like to build a trolling rod for my son. He's 6. I've thought about a 6 ft 12 to 16 lb one. It's for mackeres and other small saltwater fishes. As this kind of rods are not common in Spain, I would thank any advice, basically on blank options. Best regards, Daniel

I live in Spain. In the Mediterranean Europe, surf rods are longer than in the US. It's to cast 130 gr lead weights (of course with hook and live bait).

Dear Richrad, I built one of these a couple of months ago, using a G. Loomis FS904X-GL3 blank. I posted some pictures in the photo section. Both pieces were included in the blank price. Daniel

I've a request to build a 13 ft sufcasting rod. It's to cast 5 oz and to be used with a baitcasting reel (Avet), so guides would be in "casting" style. Commonly used surfcasting rods in Spain go from 13'6" to 16"6". I've seen this sizes are not common in the US so it's not easy to find suitable blanks. I've thought about Purglas blanks, but this is the first surf ro

Dear friends, I'd like to begin practising inland casting. This is not estrictly fishing. There are several disciplines. The rod I'd like to build first is for "precission" in wich a 7.5 grams (1/4 oz aprox) has to reach different targets located from 10 to 20 yards. It's to be used with SPINNING REEL. Minimum rod length is 1,37 meters (4'6'') and I supose X-fast action will be th

Dear friends, Although I've been busy these last weeks, I've build a couple of rods. I'll post pics in the photo section tomorrow. On of these was a 5'6" 30lb trolling rod, built from a Seeker 655 blank. I used Afto lightweight rollers and the result was not bad. One of my friends liked it and he asked me to buitd a couple of rods like this one, but in 3 pieces. I haven't found suc

Dear Mike, Thank you very much for your reply. I live in Spain and spinning reels are widely used for casting. I've no problem in using them and even some conventional reel like Shimano Curado and others. The problem is when using this other reels (I enclose the links) like Tiburon or even this Accurate one They only have the lever drag, with no magnetic or similar control. When cas

Dear friends, I've being reading about baitcasting but there is a point I cannot understand well. I've seen that you use to cast with what you call "conventional reels". I've a Tiburon Engineering SST30/80 reel and I'd like to try. I'll ask about the rod in future posts, but I need to know if the reel I have is suitable for this. My question is. How must I cast?. I mean, this reel

Dear friends, I've a CTS white trolling blank and I'd like to wrap black Aftto roller guides on it. I've seen some interesting ideas during my visits to the photo section and I'd like to make a white underwrap with black trims and a white overwrap with black details, too. I've made some previous test using Gudebrod white and black threads, both in regular nylon. The problem is that I ca

Dear friends, I've to build a flipping rod for a friend. I'll use a G.Loomis blank (Flipping Stick, FS904X). Are there differences in grip lengths, number/kind of guides or the way they are distributed over the blank,...? I've never seen one of these rods... Thanks, Daniel

Hi again. I've posted a message 10 or 12 threads before. Title was "Idea for AMTAC Matrix blank". I asked for ideas on wrapping titanium guides on Amtac Matrix Blanks. I've been thinking about how a translucent wrap would look. I mean using white regular nylon thread with no CP. I imagin titanium guide foot will not change color as it happens when shaping other kind of guides.

I had thought something... "special" What about doing it with regular nylon white thread without CP?. I think titanium guides wil not have this "ugly" color change in the shaped feet. Any experience with this?

Hi again to everybody! I'd like to build a spinning rod using an Amtac Matrix Mag Bass blank (AMMBC843). I'll use Fuji titanium/SIC spinning guides. Is there ani nice idea for warp color?. I don't know if doing it trying to match the beautiful blank green color, if using a metallic green thread or something completelly different like a yellow, gold... Anyone with good results? Da

Hi again, guys. I've bought a rod and edje between reel seat and foam grip was "covered" by something like a winding check. I've liked this effect, because it makes a nic transition. You'll find a photo here: www.fishright.com/publi/mango.jpg I could not find nothing similar to this in the catalogs I have, at least with this conical shape. Are this some kind of winding check?

Thear friends, I've a Shimano Beastmaster 3050R stand up rod. I don't know if this model is also sold in other countries but I think the look I'm looking for is common to other Shimano Beastmaster rods (spinning...). You can take a look of this kind of finish here: . I tried to posta picture in the photo section but an error appears when trying to build thumbnail. Both, the whole bl

Dear friends, In the last rod I've built, I thought in installing gimbal when the rod would be finish. My bright mind though it would make easier to fix the rod to the power wraper, and it did. The problem is that when I tried to install the gimbal (I repeat, the rod was finished) traped air in the bottom of the gimbal made a very strong resistance, due to internal pressure. Air remained tr
