Hi again, guys.
I've bought a rod and edje between reel seat and foam grip was "covered" by something like a winding check. I've liked this effect, because it makes a nic transition. You'll find a photo here: www.fishright.com/publi/mango.jpg I could not find nothing similar to this in the catalogs I have, at least with this conical shape. Are this some kind of winding check? Are they designed for reel seats?. Do you know where to buy it?. Thanks in advance, Daniel Re: "Winding checks" for reel seats

If it's aFuji, you might wanna contact Bob at Custom Tackle Supply, I know he was looking to carry them. I also think MErrick has them. Several colors too. I ordered a bunch from Fishing Marunoucci in Japan. You can see them on the Fuji JApan site, jst click around until you find it. Re: "Winding checks" for reel seats

Similar fittings can be found at plumbing stores, although your color choice may be only one - copper.

Hola Daniel,
Another option would be to go to a machine shop and have them turn you some. Re: "Winding checks" for reel seats

Seconding what Tom said. I was at Lowe's today getting stuff to finally upgrade to a thread carriage/tensioner system (instead of my single spool, netcraft vinyl tube device) and noticed that there were types of compression fitting parts that would work wonderfully. I know I've seen similar things in steel and/or aluminum some time ago but don't remember where or what they were for.. just one of those visuals that stuck with me. Also perhaps you could make them out of plexiglass or some hard colored plastic
Even colored epoxy Re: "Winding checks" for reel seats

The shape of the winding check looks like a ring from a pressure fitting. Try to find Swagelok, mfgr of high pressure fittings. They come in a silver & gold version. You can use the ring and the retainer for winding checks. May be a little pricey, but they have the right shape. Re: "Winding checks" for reel seats
