I would get it checked before you rebuild it. Lots of times things are more valuable in unrestored condition.
Good luck with a cool peice of history.

I have an Alps and it works great, especially if you want the color of the blank to show through like factory rods. Very subtle and classy. They do have drawbacks, but if you can find one that works there is a bunch of info about them on this site and Yahoo groups.
Good luck. Stan

Spray adhesive is too hard to work with. Go to the craft store and buy some Best-Test paper cement, and follow the directions. I never sprayed the backs of the stuff I did, just used 3 coats of Krylon 1311 matt finish over the artwork. Cement , then color preserver, then epoxy. Built a lot of rods that way, no fuss no muss.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

Maybe I missed it, but why do you need UV protection if there are no thread wraps? I didn't think G yellowed. Thanks.

Loomis can stop selling blanks, that is their right.
I do beleive they dissed rodbuilders. I was mad when they didn't offer their full line up of blanks to builders, you could get some GLX blanks but not others. As Mo said they have to have blanks to make rods, snag one before you start building on it. If we were only 3% they wouldn't be missing that many blanks.

Give Karen at Bingham Enterprises a call, she has the Seeker blanks.

I haven't seen any of these blanks, but this might work: remove the finish off the blank where your split grip is going to be. Then put a "new" finish on, then this area should look like the rest of the rod.

Bill, no problem. I like the grip for any bass spinning applications, like skipping senko's.

The hammer handle idea is a great one for spinning rods, I've been making my own version for a while-

107. Re: Micro Guide Test
Mark,
Thanks for the test. I wonder how it would work with 8lbs floro line? Since the braid is very limp and floro has much more memory that may affect the casting? Do you have any floro or even a copolymer line to try this with? If not no problem.
Thanks. Stan

What are the weights and comparable powers of the biofiber blanks that you have evaluated? I read in a coulple of places that these new blanks (whatever they are) were going to "so advanced they may put other blanks back in the stone ages" along with being much lighter and stronger.
Thanks. Stan

Tom, I remember posts where people have suggested ways to help pay with memberships ect. This works for other websites and fishing websites, it allows people who want to spend extra too, while still letting non-subscribers read and post the way they always have.
That is a lot of money you spend, thank you. I for one have paid for my subscription for over 5 years and would gladly pay a yea

I agree with Kevin. It's one thing if a sponser sells a product, but when no sponser sells the product why not allow a person to post where to buy from.
I think if someone finds anything that is of use to rodbuilders and a sponser doesn't sell it they should be able to post a place to buy it. If there is enough demand a sponser will start stocking it!! Keeping secrets isn't what this board

Do you have a GLX type blank that will take a beating like fiberglass?

Uruel the texilium I used looks cool but doesn't help any with the sensitivity, it may even hurt as little as it is somewhat heavier than cork. This rod has a small reel on it which is very easy to palm, my hand never touches the tubing directly behind the reel seat. The St. Croix Legend Elites are super blanks, light sensistive and make great rods.
Hope that helps if you have any questions

117. Re: Split Grips
Do you mean something like this-
If so it is a Fuji ECSM seat cut up, this particular seat has been painted. There are many pictures of these type of reel seats just do a search for split reel seat. Hope that helps.

Seems like a legitimate question to me. Here are my two cents-
I don't know about the guide setup having much difference, I think the drag setting on the reel and the line used make the most important part of setting the hook (at least for freshwater bass). I'm sure I'm not the only one who has went fishing and goes to set the hook and forgot that I backed the drag down after my last trip an

I personally like slower action blanks for moving baits, try one of the St. Croix MM or MHM's.

Which ever St. Croix line medium 6'6" blank is in your price range. Can't go wrong with them.
Good luck.
