I agree with Jay, when I paint seats that is what I do.
Have fun.

Batson makes a SW967 that is a 2 peice blank. 10oz might be too much for that blank but for lighter baits they are a nice blank.
Good luck.

When I first built my box I used various lights to heat and that worked ok, but we had just bought a house and the previous owner had left a Pelonis Disc Furnace in the shed and it doesn't blow or move a lot of air so I thought I would try it. I cut a hole in the dryer box to fit the Disc Furnace and I've been using it for 6 years with no problem.
I just built a new bigger box and still use t

67. Re: gold leaf ?
Alps printer will print in metallic gold. They are hard to find but can do the small lettering.
Good luck. Stan

Put the grip on and leave it about 1/8" past the end of the blank and cut a plug out of another piece of EVA. I like to use a piece of copper tubing to make the plug.
Good luck. Stan

Does anyone have winding checks for the SK reel seats in stock? I need a 13mm and 13.5mm for the size 17 reel seats.
I've tried a couple places and they are on back order.
Thank you.

That is the way I perfer to use the reel seat also. To me it's more comfortable, I even leave out the foregrip. I've built a bunch for customers and haven't had any complaints.
As said before this is custom rodbuilding.
Good luck.

Billy what if you got a peice of copper tubing that is a little bigger than the diameter of the blank. Sharpen the end and then run the tubing up the blank to remove the grip. Then use an arbor and reattach the grip? It's more work than shooting in epoxy but you would know it's fixed and won't fail.

I've done teflon tubing as a bumper and it worked. I've also just done a wrap and used perma gloss to coat the wrap, that worked great. These were all on freshwater bass rods.
Good luck. Stan

It could work, especailly if you are just flipping. This is what I would do, tape on a set of guides and a tamer guide and go test filp, keep moving and trying different tamer guides until you find something that works. You might have to change the way you flip, but at least you will know before you wrap them.
Let us know if you find a setup you like. Good luck. Stan

Call St. Croix to check but usually it's not a problem if a blank is trimmed.
Good luck.

I bought an old computer off Craigslist just to run my Alps. I also bought a KVM switch so I can run both of my computers using 1 keyboard and 1 mouse.
Good luck.

Sorry, now I'm confused. The way I read it was- instead of using a couple double foot guide then transitioning to single foots the rest of the way, he used double foot guides all the way. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

I feel bad for you. If it was me, I wouldn't accept it. There is quite a difference between single foot guides and double foots, to me that is unacceptable. I would call him and try and get your money back. Then build it yourself or find a builder who won't give you the runaround.

I've epoxied plate seats on cork, no reason it wouldn't work with wood. I've used inserts to screw reels on also, but like the plate seats better.

Congrats on the win.
Sorry to highjack the thread but what was the PFS764? I know what the FS764 was, just used my last one. Thanks.

If I ever did any night fishing I would have already tried this... but it should work. Get some Luminova pigment and mix it in your finish epoxy. There are other types but I know this one works well on watch hands and dials.
Hope that helps.
Good luck.

Throw the rod bond in the microwave for 10 seconds bursts, keep doing it until it becomes a gel again.
No problem.
Good luck.

I've done a few and I let the paint cure for at least 2 weeks. I think because the PG is so "hot" you have to let the paint fully cure before appling the PG.
Good luck.

IMO the best fiberglass crankbait blank is the Seeker BS706, give Karen a call at Bingham Enterprises last I knew she had them in stock.
Good luck.
