I agree with the others. Doubtful it changes anything. One thing you can do, if you don’t already, is use rubber tubing (instead of tape) to attach the guides. It’s much easier to slide the guides (carefully!) back or forward as needed. Often, I find I don’t need an extra guide after re-positioning.

I put a size 16 in my wife’s spinning rod, but she has small hands. I put an 18 on the last one I built for myself as I don’t have overly large hands either. Like everyone else has said, it has to be comfortable. I’ll figure out how to make it look and fit the rod.

Harry, just an FYI, but you can buy faster dryers if you are otherwise happy with your set up. And, you put the slip clutch on any of them. I *think* they’re around $20-$30 IIRC.

Francis is correct. The RBS track at Mudhole is comparable with their hand wrappers I recently upgraded to the RBS pro power wrapper. I looked at the Alps, and I feel like I would’ve probably been just as happy with it, but I bought the whole kit from Mudhole to save some money. Again, I think the wrappers are fairly comparable from what I could tell. But, I really like the RBS stands (Pro Stand

Aleks, think what you want. I’ve stated why I didn’t do business with your outfit. If you’re butt hurt over it, too bad. But, I didn’t troll anyone. I recommended, warned, advised, label it as you wish, to research before purchasing. That’s it. And, when you inquired about my orders, I was clear to point out that you wouldn’t find any because I haven’t placed any. I didn’t have to do that. Instea

Chris, the answer is simple. There are other options that don’t require waiting, or potential customer service issues. In the case of TW, I can get the same lures elsewhere faster with all else being equal. In the case of NFC, it’s as I said earlier, I can accomplish what I want without the hassle of waiting. My latest build is a flipping stick. I was seriously considering NFC until I researched

Ben, maybe so. I didn’t realize (as I’ve never seen you here before) you were already a happy NFC customer. If I had, I wouldn’t have replied to your thread. If you’re happy, I’m happy for you. I’m just not into waiting, etc… when I can accomplish what I want elsewhere, without the hassles. I almost hate to bring this up (all of their fanboys will pile on), but I don’t do business with Tackle War

Hey David, I’ll “STFU” on my terms, not yours. If that bothers you, ignore what I post. Problem solved. As for your accusations and presumptions, you are way off base. The ONLY opinion (actually it was advice, not an opinion so my bad on that) I gave regarding NFC to the OP, or to anyone else is to do their due diligence because, whether you (and others) want to acknowledge it or not, they do

Choose who you deal with wisely. I personally won’t have anything to do with NFC. I was considering them for a jig rod, but changed my mind. There are too many vendors of the same quality that actually act like they want my money.

Look at CRB over at Mudhole. They have inexpensive jigging blanks. As Tom stated, you shouldn’t get hung up on any specific species nomenclature by the manufacturer.

I’ve never used CP so I’m not going to act like the arbiter of CP, but I can’t help but be suspicious of statements that insinuate the integrity of the wraps are somehow compromised by the use of CP. There are builders that use CP instead of thread finish. That makes me think if it secures the wrap by itself, then there’s no way it weakens a wrap when the wrap is finished with thread finish on to

I’m always amazed how CP is almost undetectable on some colors. I can barely distinguish the difference on the lime green. The baby blue got a bit darker with the CP. Looks good, however.

I think I’d look for a shorter blank that fits the intended use. Cutting a foot off is too much, IMO. If you decide to go forward with that plan, just know you’re going to change the action of the rod.

p.s. if you want better results, there are better avenues that I encourage you to pursue. I have really good results with Marketplace, and our local fishing clubs.

I’m not sure what mag taper really means, to be perfectly honest. However, MHX has a series called “Mag Taper”. Perhaps check with them to see if they have something to meet your needs.

Weight is always one of my top priorities. I’m not 20 anymore. Lol I’m giving the IM 769 a hard look.

I worry the SW 764 might a bit too heavy, literally & in power. As I stated, I never punch heavy cover. I’m pitching/flipping lay downs and around docks, standing timber and the like.

It doesn’t need to be so tight that it’s like opening a new jar of jelly, pickles, etc…(pretty hard for my old hands) to reposition the wrap, but it should be pretty tight. It definitely should require a little effort to reposition the guide. If in doubt, re-wrap it.

Looking to build a new flipping rod (bass). Just curious if anyone has built this blank and how do they like it for flipping. Another option is the Flip 764-1 (HM). It's a lighter blank, but it's a heavy power blank. I don't know that I need that as I don't punch or frog around heavy cover. I mostly pitch and flip laydowns and docks.

I would steer clear of UV cured resins. They will become brittle and flake off at some point. If I were you, I would get the beginner kit from Mudhole. I'm sure Flex Coat probably has a comparable kit that would also be a good choice.

I prefer 18 rpm for drying, but the speed has nothing to do with straight edges. Personally, I’d just simply tape off the area if I weren’t able to control the brush, or spatula, enough to get a straight edge without taping.
