Gentlemen, I have been asked by a friend to build a multi-piece travel rod 5' to fit in his motorcycles saddle bags for a trip he is planning in April. The longest any section can be is about 16 inches. I have searched, but have been unable to locate anything manufactured to fit the bill. have never had a problem with the running guides and braid, but have had the TT's groove. You could see the grooves under magnification. Change to a SIC TT and problem was solved...

If installing the grip after the installing the ferrule, I just use plastic wrap and tape up the nut and ferrule. Makes clean up a snap...

The Simple Spiral layout works just a good for the heay off-shore rigs as it does with the lighter inshore. I don't have any idea what your TT size is, but for what your building I would look at a @#$%& Roller made for the Spiral or at least a SIC guide.
