121. Re: Sanford Hochman
Thanks Joe,
I know Sanford uses the "raw" one versus the laminate.
Does the raw one have adhesive on it?

Sanford gets his from the same source. I guess he had issues getting it on near the tip. This is where his secret lies.
Unless joe, you can tell us...

A Penn 130 is really, really heavy to use on a stand-up. It will be ackward to use..imo.. If you are using this reel on a standup and want to troll, then I would have at least a 5' 8" to 6' foot rod. I don't like they way short rods troll spreader bars unless you have access to large outriggers and can put them up higher.
He may be better off with one of the newer reels with Spectra an

Without the extension, what is the longest grip or handle it can turn? Is it 10 or 14 inches?

Brush/push the epoxy lengthwise to even it out. let the rod set and take an old credit card and take any uneveness from the bottom. turn the rod and wait and see if it okay. then rotate the rod either by hand or dryer..

It is alot easier to wrap on epoxy than on another thread. I always epoxy my underwraps then each of my 2 overwraps for my salt H2O rods. You can just do the underwraps then do one coat for the overwraps, but I put mine on a lite and rather do a couple of epoxy than have to resand an over-epoxy guide...
Epoxy is easy once you figure your own method,..imo...

I have built a rod on the CTSF50XXH . I used wind on guides which is a little dicey since it is a smaller diameter rod. I like the rod. I have it mounted in a bent butt. I trimmed the blank so the overall length is 5' 6
I think the foregrip is about 12-13 inches.
I have not tried any GUSA. Just note that the butt is only .647 inches. You will need to build it up to match the #2 unibutts

I built a shark rod on this blank with American tackle Turbo guides. It was a good deal from Mudhole..
I used the ice blue aftco gimbal and reel seat along with a slick butt. I like the rod. I like this stand up even though it is a little long, but on some of the boats i fish this is advantage to moving it around the boat if we are lazy and not start the engines up (which is common unl

Jay, I hear you on cutting the line...
I wrapped wrong once and I dislocated my shoulder before they could cut the line. Thank goodness my buddy held onto to me until they could get a knife.. It was a nice fish..
Most people use the harness wrong and still pump with the arms instead of using their thighs.
Forum: rodboard 17 years ago

I tried one and did not like it.
If you are attached to a belt then then its (advantage) is nullified IMO. When I am in the harness, I use my hand on the reel to guide the line and to make sure i don't get a broken nose if the line breaks...(it has come close before!) i use my legs to pump the rod so I really don't think the Z grip is worth the 200 buck..

I just finished my 3, 5 and 6 year olds spinning rod. Ultra lite from Seeker..yes, seeeker, I wanted to check them out and they were e glass and I knew they can take abuse. Also they had the butt size for the different cameo grips that the kids wanted.
Closed faced spinning reels for them
I am buidling them now, 2 pink (for girls) and one black (boy) - trolling/casting rods (7 ft) for s

I use mine (Pac bay) for the salt water rods I do. I think I get a tighter wrap on them. Plus It drives me beserk to turn the rod by hand for those large OD blanks.
For the small freshwater rods, I turn by hand.

I just ordered a PAC BAy stubbie to see how it works for my curved bent butt (short). I need to make four stand ups for a customer and they want aftco uni butts and I really don't want to cut and shim 4 blanks.
American tackle, gator glass alos make stubbies.
