Sorry for the multiple posts. Each time I attempted to post, I received an error message, and my post didn't appear. Anyone know why this might be happening?

572. Dryer Motor Speed
My current drying setup uses two 5 RPM motors. I have read that ~18 RPM is a recommended speed. As I consider changing my motors I have found two motors that meet my price expectations. One is 12 RPM, and one is 30 RPM. If given the choice between the two, which speed would you choose?
Thanks,

I did a search on paraffin and found a few hits, but all attempts to open them resulted in timing out. So I'll try the topic again.
I've had a string of bad luck lately, with three new rods experiencing ferrule loosening while fishing. All are tip over butt fly rods, purchased from three different sponsors. Two are four piece rods and one is a two piece rod.
I seem to recall differing op

The opposite end of my hand clamp has a shallow hole, just deep enough to keep that end of the mandrel in position. I didn't drill all of the way through because the supporting structure on that end wouldn't allow it. Doesn't matter though, as I only need to pull the mandrel out in one direction.
As noted with my photo, pulling the mandrel can be risky. Adding too much pressure after the ma

A while ago Mike Barkley posted an image of the hand clamp he uses to bond cork rings. I shared my version of this idea with Mike, and he suggested that I share with the rest of the group.
Two images have been posted to the photo section.
Mike, thanks for your original idea and posting.

577. Re: cork ?'s
Aaron,
I should have added that if you're just getting into making your own grips with cork rings, buying lower grade rings is recommended while you experiment with technique.
Didn't want to send you out to purchase the best cork to learn on. Many of the mechanics of rodbuilding have learning curves associated with them.

If you want to build a beautiful handle, obtain the best cork you can afford. That way you are nearly certain to make a grip that is of better quality than one you can purchase already assembled. This assumes, of course, that you won't experience a great deal of waste in the process.
When I restarted building rods recently, I got away from making my own grips and purchased 7" fly grips

One suggestion I'd offer if you're using Rod Bond and you're mounting your grip over a round reel seat hood. When your grip approaches the hood, try to remove (using a narrow craft stick) as much of the Rod Bond as possible before sliding the grip over the hood. If too much RB is left above the hood, you'll be compressing the RB (and maybe some trapped air) inside the inletted cork. This compr

Performed all updates yesterday and scanned my computer. All appears clean. Even so, if I have exchanged infrequent emails with individuals in the group, I'd like to request that they remove my address from their address books. I usually go through mine regularly and eliminate infrequent contacts so they're not exposed.
Thanks,

I just visited several sponsor sites and could not seem to locate burl cork in 1/8" and 1/4" thickness rings.
While on the subject of burl cork, are there differences in the burl cork offered by our sponsors, and is there a specific type recommended for 1) complete burl grip, and/or 2) burl rings as accents within a regular cork grip?
Thanks in advance.
