Sharon I would get as much information from your customer as possible to make the right decision in the blank. I agree with Bill. Just because a blank was designed for a certain application does not mean it will not be perfect for other styles and techniques. Perfect example are sea trout rods. Hey Danny. I would take a look at the AXBR8XXXH from American Tackle. I personally don't shark fish from shore anymore due to certain licenses and regulation but I know several acquaintances who have used these blanks exactly for this application. It sounds like your customer will need the length to position the rod over the breakers. With the proper reel seat that blank will pair up very nicely

I would take a look. at the ATREX12-2PC. The split is 50/50 on this blank and they have another option in a 12'6" as well. They also have an ascetic appeal to them with the 1k carbon matte weave in it. I have been looking at these for casting heavy Subdarters and poppers in the surf for spinner sharks, jacks, and the occasional tarpon. I wish I could get some Guanacaste Rooster fish again!

If 8lb monofilament is the line diameter you are looking to utilize on this build I would at the MW20 set. They also make a finesse version with the snagless frame. The multiple awards given to this component speak for themselves. These guides functionality and durability are far superior (especially for the price) to many other options I have used in the past.

I usually use aluminum reel seats on my saltwater builds but i recently was intrigued by the CRSD-18B-3K The carbon tube is CNC machined and the threads feel incredibly clean. I wanted to reduce the weight on this specific build so I know I made the right choice on going with this reel seat. I figured it would also help transfer some of the sensitivity thought the graphite blank into the seat.

I am building a rod for stinger rigs and live baits that will utilize a tandem hook rigs. My question is how many of you would use a hook keeper on a similar build? Even though there would be one of the two hooks not held by a keeper, I would still prefer to have something secured to the rod. I was thinking of using one of the AT Deluxe Hook Keepers for these deadly rigs.

Charles I would take the time and look at some of the ATXGC series. I find that it serves as a fantastic blank in that 30-50lb range. It has enough sensitivity to feel those mangrove snapper, lane, and vermillion bites but strong enough to change the direction of a fish surging to the structure. Those grouper, big red snapper, cobia, and aj's don't stand a chance.

I personally like to use the 3KFS. I love the carbon it adds to the build and the black aluminum hoods are the way to go for me. The other option that came to my mind is the AL8. That fly seat I would use on a heavier outfit utilizing larger reels. It defiantly has a classic look to them and wont put a dent in the wallet.

Go with the MicroWave 25's. So even if they aren’t so savvy in line to line connections they will not have an issue with their leader knots. With the 25 size you are getting a larger stripper guide and all the benefits that come with the Microwave guides.

The Bushido CB78/10-20 is perfect for my lipless crank baits and my deep diving cranks. I feel like this rod can still sling lighter baits and sill pop it out of the grass without so much effort. I find my self reaching for my CB78/10-20 more and more often for my cranking applications.

I just did a couple 2' gaff myself and I was also very impressed with the ease of assembly. We have use our gaff on a few trips so far and its preformed flawlessly putting snapper and grouper in the kill box!

Hey Derick, The G2H casting grips will fit most 16 & 17 size reel seats. They were intended for just G2H AT reel seats. I have personally seen them used with many other manufacturers but there is no guarantee it will be configured properly. You are going to love those grips!

Those G2H handles are so easy install. It saves some time when there is no need to ream out a ton of EVA or cork. The cleanup is much easier as well. I didn’t even use tape like my messy self usually would. I had so much fun with the last one that I am already considering utilizing the split grip version on an upcoming spinning rod.

The two blanks that immediately come to my mind when discussing pond fishing are the AT Bushido MB68/10-17 and the MA-SJ66/6-12. The MB68/10-17 would be used in tandem with those heavier baits while pond fishing but still have enough power to get a solid hook set. The MA-SJ66/6-12 is my rod for small poppers and jigs. It loads up great with smaller baits and has the power to land some pond giants
