Ben I don't doubt it for a second, but we have to consider the possibility that it may not be those few extra thread wraps behind your success rate.

Another issue rarely addressed is thread tension in the guide wraps.

In custom rods it is do as you want to. But for some of us engineering and technical details far outweigh any artistic value, and given this consideration, a guide requires thread only on

Line comes off spool straight. So nothing to choke as said above. I use stripper guides on my bass rods as small as 4 to 5mm with zero problems.

These rules were authored by the legendary Don Morton: From a book on custom rod building 1. The line should run as straight as possible from the reel to the tip of the rod. 2. The line should form as small of an angle as possible with each guide. 3. The line should touch only the top or bottom of the guides in any fishing position. 4. The line should pass through the guides with no line

I am not about to take my $300 plus custom bass rods into saltwater use. I catch some huge reds and snook, some measuring close to 40 inches long. Good size fish. And I use glass rods for saltwater

PVC pipe from Home Depot? With removable cap pieces? Add magnets if wanted. I would just shove the end up into the front of the bed in a corner and depending on how it fits, just tie the upper end down that lays on the top of the bed side. and one tie down will keep it in place. And you can access it by a removable cap. Slide rods in and out. Cheap. Simple. Effective, and quick and easy in and ou

You are welcome to this opinion however ad hominem it is. And I say you are out of line with that worthless comment. But rest assured for some time the thought has been mutual to a growing degree which is why postings are dropping for myself and... it does go both ways Mike. It is not all one sided and just because you choose to disagree with everything does not make you 100% right and me 100%

Hi Kent, I seem to recall those maybe being made by a small rod company in Harrison, AR. They made private label rods for various companies. Reb-Rod in Flippen, AR. might be another source of info, since they also did batches of private label rods of all kinds. Also, there was a company in western Arkansas near Fayetteville, but have no info on them. If I come across more info, I'll get

Well said even if we disagree on some things... keep in mind the man who Loomis acquired from Boeing, is not the same man who built the Loomis factories! That Boeing engineer was just a graphite applications engineer in aerospace design and engineering and what Gary wanted him for was to help him develop the materials for his blanks and antennas- same thing really. A graphite specialist.
