So I decided to look up this parent company Axiom North America, LLC... and found this: Axiom: Winning New Business without New Investment Axiom had already been manufacturing fishing rods at Entrada Group’s Fresnillo, Zacatecas facility in central Mexico for some 10 years. The company grew thanks to the high-quality production from its Mexico plant and by virtue of proximity to customers i

I have been reading the rodgeeks website and they say they are similar but not exactly the same as St. Croix. The website says they are basically making the same rods as St. Croix but in a factory in Mexico rather than USA. From their website: RODgeeks is brought to you by Axiom North America, LLC, which is a joint venture between St. Croix of Park Falls, and Rapsody, Inc. We own and operat

I post this one for your amusement. While I love Roland Martin and watch many of his Florida bass fishing videos on youtube, his latest video on rod repairs left me shaking my head when he went to putting epoxy on his favorite rod claiming "how to make it better than it was" (made when new). I could not believe what he was doing. In this video Roland shows everyone how he repairs

I cut up thin strips of that blue painter's tape. Works great. Not a fan of pre-gluing guides in place because after wrapping the thread on them, sometimes they need adjusting for better alignment.

One thing I did to help was change steel bearings to full ceramics. They are less than half the weight of steel bearings so lighter lures can be cast. Another issue is bearing lubrication. Steel bearings require oil to keep them from rusting only. Oil is not required for bearing operation. Oil depending on viscosity can slow down casting ability. On my full ceramic bearings I never use oil

Thanks for posting that link Norm. I just checked it out. I think it is a good idea that there are people trying to fill that data void on the braid line products, but there is a problem with it... Because the plastics industry is changing all the time and the processes used to make the gel spun fibers is constantly changing, the resulting data is constantly changing as well. And we are al

Thanks. I was wondering if the boiling water would cause any blank softening that would make it weaker or softer when trying to twist off a reel seat. I just read up on curing temps and see it is quite a bit higher than boiling water is, but was more or less curious if even that temperature would soften the blank any possibly weakening it while heated up for the twist off of the reel seat.

For balancing out a rod, you can use rolls of tape on the light end to slide them over the rod to balance it out while wrapping on some guides. Or, you can use a bar stool or chair to support the heavy end while wrapping.

Ah OK, I get it now. Even loaded as long as it is at rest loaded it is in a static position or condition. See, I knew it just needed explaining. Thanks! I guess I was getting lost in the flexing and bending. Oh, and I caught 12 bass tonight. Stumbled into a feeding frenzy of schoolies. One after another on swimbaits. I missed as many as I caught. No static rod today. Thanks again.

Help me out here because I am reading some confusing language or terminology concerning rod testing. I have read in several threads the following descriptions: "I would use what the blank tells you it needs during a static flex test." "Upon static testing and bending the blank" And then when I compare this use of the word static to the dictionary definition I find
