I’ve done both. Sometimes I’ll epoxy the insert and let it setup and then put the assembly onto the blank - other times I’ll just do it all at once. Works fine either way. Be sure to carefully clean up the epoxy that may likely find its way through the side openings of the seat that the insert will cover and then around the bottom Blank opening

Thanks for the mention Norman. Would be glad to help out with custom gold anodized titanium guides - can do them in several shades of gold to match other components. In most cases it’s the ID as mentioned but not always - as an example on some of the Alps aluminum seats that have decorative inserts - so it’s best to check the specs

The spacing charts are for the layout spacing from the pattern center points. You use TOS to figure out your design center point spacing on the axis and then use that tables for the design layout threads off of those

Stan - my first real intro to rod building was at the expo in 2020. I went to figure out what I needed to get started. The seminars were of value and talking to the vendors as well as other groups with booths (or NERBS) was invaluable. Now I live about 90 min away - but if the expo were in WI I’d make the flight

Inventory system or not - think about the logistics of rod parts - how many thousands of skus there are - of tiny parts that look so much alike…. Can you image how easy it is for one part to accidentally make it in the wrong bin - or when inventory is done that things get off by a few count? I’m not necessarily making excuses as it’s the business they are in - but at the same time have some

If you go with the other type grip you won’t get a nice flush fit - you can sand it down a bit to help square it up but still won’t be as clean. You’ve cut the tenon off already so you might as well see it through - go slow and be as careful as possible to stay square - that foam will ream quicker than you’d expect

I’ve used the x-flock heat shrink tubing from the big online stores on multiple occasions to refurb some older personal rods and have used some on new builds.

Let’s see if a photo post will work via the app…. I’ve had an idea that’s been floating around in the back of my head for a while…. Inspired by Billy V’s inlay grips - but with a twist. Finally had the right project to try it - fought me for 3-4 days with at least 4 or more fails along the way…. most on the back end of the process. But I managed to push through and realize what I had envisi

I have the px800 and have printed a lot of labels on it. The resolution is higher than the 400 so of doing images or even script fonts and such the 800 can give better results. I’ve not had issues with the labels curling - I apply a coat of finish to the blank first, and then once cured apply the label and then finish right over. Used to use nail polish (Sally Hard as Nails clear) to seal the

The 20% larger was in reference to number of exhibitors over last year - which was down due to Covid. A lot of the Asian companies were still lot there. Was great to see and catch up with a lot of rod builders and suppliers to our craft!

About 20% bigger than last year and seemed to be a good crowd. A number of rod building companies represented - American Tackle, Batson, Fuji/Anglers Resource, REC, Mudhole, NFC/RodBuilding.Org/Edge, Winthrop, SeaGuide, AB1, Stryker Rods, Lamiglass (tho I didn’t see any bare blanks) - hope I didn’t miss anyone. Billy V was in the Fuji booth and Mary Christie & Mark Crouse were in the
