181. Re: Search function
David,
You don’t need the search function to find all of Normans posts.
Click on his name from any page (you do not need to be logged in)
His user profile will come up - click “Show all posts” at the bottom, and you should get a result that looks like this:
Is that the view you are looking for?

182. Re: Search function
David,
I believe what you are describing is a limitation of the search function in phorum (the software that powers the forum). I believe that the default is 5 characters for a search (to achieve a higher level of match) so if you are searching for a three or four character word, it will come up empty. The easiest workaround is adding a * or a ** behind whatever search term you are using to ge

Let's please keep the topic to rodbuilding and direct impacts to the craft...
Kent, I've removed one of your replies, but have kept two that are more or less relevant.
Thank you and Happy 4th!

Aleks

Mark, it’s a bull trout. The rod was made by Nate Cowley, a young very talented builder. We will get him/his work on here in a bit.

Chris,
I am too (windows 11 and edge) and am able to see the pictures flow through - can you do me a favor and see if they come through via "in private" mode, or through another browser like Chrome? This will help me identify if it is a browser setting.
Thank You,
Aleks

Mike -
This is one of those cases where I think we can “have our cake and eat it too”
From the app - you can “turn off” the photo view and only look at topics...once clicked, if there is a photo associated with the post, it will come up.
The biggest benefit is that someone needing help can quickly share the issue at hand without posting to the photo page and linking back.
I would imagine the

I agree with Kent that we are in a recession. However, from a supplier standpoint - we have never been busier. Summer in the fishing industry is typically slower. My personal opinion is that folks will look for more “value” in their purchases, but will demand drop off? No, it didn’t in 2008.

Dan,
You will be able to do that through the app!
Post a photo to the forum, reply to it, etc.
You will be able to reply to the photo from the website, but alas, posting photos from the website to the website, or from the website to the app is a challenge due to the phorum software interface.
Best,
Aleks

As we get closer to ICAST, we will start releasing new products - to the Rodbuilding.org community first, and at the ICAST new product showcase second. (Not the other way around) We want you, the rod builder to see and hear about new products here first.
New Carbon Fiber Reelseats - available right after ICAST. Size 16, weighing sub 10 grams, with a cut away to allow a finger on the blank:

Dear Rodbuilders and Rodbuilding.org community,
The Rodbuilding.org App is almost ready! (for iPhone and very shortly Android) here is a "sneak peek'
What we wanted to do is to keep all of the same Rodbuilding.org functionality, but make it easier to read and post on your phone, as well as share your work (from your camera roll, or just to take a picture and post it here)

Mark,
Gary Loomis said that if we had materials that we use in the APFG/Iconoglass lineups in the 70s, he would have never gotten into graphite.

Steve,
A number of OEMs use the Iconoglas blanks as travel spinning / casting models. You can take a look at some of their pictures here, and their work is stunning.
The Iconoglas blanks and APFG blanks are made out of a fiber called zentron - its a high mod glass that yields and extra fast blank action (unlike a traditional fiberglass blank)

Derick,
I will echo Spencer here also - that the P700 will handle the 1/8 weight range with ease.
