Dear Rod Builders, We are pleased to announce the launch of the “NEO” blank, a performance blank that rod builders are calling “the one” Manufactured in the USA, from T1100GC and 9 Micron AGY fiber (both fibers Made in America). It’s the most versatile blank we have created with 3 action points: One activated during casting (to properly load the blank) One activated during the

David, Here is the NEO link, it has more information. In short, it’s a medium heavy that we added last week that will take a lot of abuse like high sticking and boat flipping and do that “forever” it is arguably one of the most durable and yet all-purpose sticks we have made.

Consider building on an North Fork Composites blank. Given your price constraints, I would look at the IM or the Delta series. For an IM blank: (about $106 shipped) For a Delta blank: Manufactured in USA. Thank You, Alex

Spencer is right, That's the link to the blank - The reason for the higher line rating is two fold. Most folks are using braid, and its hard to compare the mono rating from years ago, and materials have gotten much better, which allows for the same pattern to put up with more abuse. Best, Alex

In most cases, sanding the blank WILL NOT void the warranty. The reason I say most - if we can see that you sanded into the wall and the fiber of the blank - this will lead us to deny your warranty claim. 1) please wear a mask, carbon fiber, especially dust is not something that you want to breathe. We use a fully enclosed ventilation system and only wet sand. 2) we don't use sandpaper/typ

Lance, There are a couple of different types of Zentron (Zentron) is a term used for a type of fiber made by AGY (an American fiber manufacturer) the "standard" fiber , and in its standard form is 14 microns. The Zentron fiber that we use, is a 9 micron fiber (I/we have not heard of an 8 micron, or have tested this fiber) and a great benefit to using this fiber, is its effectiv

Matt, We catch a lot of sturgeon on the Columbia river - we have a 40-60 in the SilverBack series that is loved by local guides. The blank is very light, with a sensitive tip. It has a massive amount of power in the backbone and butt. Thanks, Alex

David, You get it. Once you add the need to purchase fiber exclusivity from US manufactures to differentiate, and then the R&D expense to bring that to market. Then you have tooling expenses, US labor, health, 401K - which results in high material costs, and high labor costs. In addition, the longer you are in business the longer the warranty exposure grows, and you are competing against f

Tony, Thanks for your note. Here is our typical process when we receive a support request like the one you describe. 1) we are not perfect - we inspect our blanks prior to shipping them out, but in some cases we miss a defect. 2) the first email you received was from a support specialist that looked at the pictures you most likely provided. We don’t coat our blanks, most of the “defect”

If you have not read this - its a gem. Our very own 'Rodbuilding.org' Tom Kirkman put this together some time ago, when we receive any questions of why we think a blank broke is to point to this article. It will be hosted on the NFC homepage. Thanks, Alex

Scott, all, thank you for your comments and feedback. Our business model is unique - and it comes with its share of challenges. As far as I know - we are the only factory that manufactures and sells direct to OEM's and custom rod-builders. This means that we are a manufacturer, and a "wholesaler" all in one. I chose this business model as we believe it allows us to compete with impor

Hey Spencer - the NFC Approved Rod Building program is different than the map. The ARB program is literally the rod builds and styles that Gary likes. Its his list and he makes the decisions on who goes on that list. There are guys on that list that has passed away and are no longer building rods. The map is just that, a map of all of the rod builders in the US/Rest of World.
