The only "objection" that I have to the ERN is the following: Probably one of the most sold bass rods all over the world is the GLX Loomis 843c, a "medium heavy" it is about a 20 on the ERN scale, and 1/2 of the US will agree that it is the "original" action medium heavy, and the other half will say that it is "too light"... It is one of the reasons why

Joe, Thank you - an EVA rear grip (depending on the density) can weight about an ounce - taking it down to 3/4 of an inch would definitely take out a lot of weight, also agree on the comfort aspect of it. I knew I should have included the ERN in my original post! A range of 19-21 for the ERN.

Hi Everyone, What’s is your personal best/knowledge of/build for the most lightweight MH bass rod (7-7’4”) range. I’ve seen around the 3oz range as a custom build (6’6 or so). (Reel seat, grips, guides, blank) Sources / links if possible please :-) Aleks

Phil, That was Alex Purvis the original poster of the thread. I did use it in quotes with my reply. I agree with Ron, I think we beat this horse to death :D Aleks Phil Erickson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Alex, you are the one who used the term "harass" > in your original post.

Kendall, My father is a pastor - one of his favorite quotes is that if "you find a perfect church, don't join it - you will mess it up" There is no perfect company, and I can assure you, it is not possible to have a couple of 'clean quality years' when you deal with any sort of manufacturing. We manufactured about 180,000 pieces last year. Let's assume a defect rate of 1%, that is

Mike, I don't think that we should tolerate personal attacks (which is definitely NOT the case here) - but reflections and vents regarding genuine issues fall right into that "freedom of speech" category that I think we should hold dear...censoring posts because they don't shine a positive light on a specific topic/company is not something that we should want to do...especially if th

Thank you Steven, Russell, Mike, Todd, Ross, and Phil for your kind words and input - Alex is a good dude - we spoke on the phone yesterday - there are no hard feelings on both sides - I totally understand his point of frustration - you wait to get a shipment, you are excited to build on it, but it arrives and there is an issue...in Alex's case, its the second time. I would be frustrated too

Alex, My reply was not intended to be patronizing, as I do appreciate you as a customer and your purchases. I simply pointed out my team took care of your issue when they were presented with it. I am also not putting into question your rodbuilding knowledge and abilities, there are plenty of rod builders that don’t want to build on a curved blank, regardless if it’s curved very slightly

Alex, Thanks for your note and for your kind words about NFC blanks. I do want to address the QC/support issue below. It looks like you already contacted support, and there is already an email chain, so I will leave it there. In terms of a tip section that was severely curved from a prior order, I looked into the notes. You bought the fly rod blank in August of 2021, but reached out t

Thank you everyone for the kind words! We are thrilled to continue to work hard to have the forum as the leading authority on anything rodbuilding. As mentioned by many, and echoed by me - Tom had done an amazing job, and we are going to build on his efforts. To borrow one of Gary’s favorite sayings - “if I have seen further it’s by standing on the shoulders of giants.” This forum is an amazing r

Mike, That’s a great question - the sponsors pay a fee to advertise on the forum. They are displayed on the left hand side and can make an unlimited number of posts to the community. (Typically it is advertising a sale, a promotion, new products, etc) But often times it is also to provide support on their own products and questions. We were a sponsor prior to the purchase because we see a valu

I am privileged to have made it this far, many of my friends have not. I cherish their memories and miss them dearly. I look back at my 45 years of rod building and realize that I would not have been able to accomplis

Phil, North Fork Composites - are proudly USA Made, by American workers. Further, what makes NFC different, special, is that we are a factory that makes performance blanks, in America, and sell them direct to the rod builder. We don't advertise "fake technology" (insert any nano-graphene marketing here). From my perspective, this goes for the custom rod builders that try t

Dear Rodbuilders, We have just published a very easy to use updated catalog for our blanks and grips: It is best viewed on a computer, but works just as well with a mobile operating system. The catalog is search-able, so if you are looking for a specific product, or an application, type it in, and all of the relevant results will come up. We have included tabs on the right to help
